Looking for a good thriller to show the missus.

Preferably something like Silence of the Lambs - not a rubbishy gore-splattered hack job with buckets of blood to mask the painfully bad acting. :p

Psychological thrillers especially welcome.

:)

Psycho (1960)
Don't Look Now (1973)
Manhunter (1986)
Cape Fear (1991)
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Hannibal (2001)

An old one would be ''3 days of the Condor'' or ''Enemy of The State''. Michael Mann's original Hannibal film ''Manhunter'' might fit the bill

Don't forget Red Dragon (2002) if you haven't seen all the Hannibal films. They have now all been mentioned.

Recommend Se7en if you haven't seen it, and the Usual Suspects

American Psyco - Brilliant movie, one of my favorites.

We've both seen Se7en; the missus hasn't seen TUS.

She's seen Psycho; we've both seen DLN, neither of us have seen Manhunter; I've seen Cape Fear but she hasn't, so that's another option; we've both seen TSS and we've watched all the Hannibal movies (first one was the best; they got progressively worse as the franchise dragged on!) Neither of us have seen 3DOTC or EOTS.

We've both seen AP; I wasn't impressed, tbh. The business card scene was the best part.

I really thought TUS was a cracking movie, so I'll go for that one and see what she thinks.

Thanks for all the suggestions; keep 'em rolling in, because I'd like to build up my movie library!

"The Strangers" is worth a watch. I wasn't expecting much before putting it on, but was quite supprised. Well worth a watch, also good in surround :)

We've seen it. Fantastic tension for the first two thirds; bit of a let down when they finally get in, but still quite good.

A few more:

The Birds (1963)
Chinatown (1974)
The Shining (1980)
L.A. Confidential (1997)
Arlington Road (1999)

Oooh, I like the look of Kontroll! "A frenzied Hungarian tragi-comedy set in the foetid bowels of the Budapest Metro" (Terry Norton).

You can't go wrong with Zoltán Mucsi.

Memento
The Departed
The Prestige - I really enjoyed this, took me by suprise.
Gone Baby Gone
Training Day
Zodiac
Fifty Dead Men Walking

If you don't mind subtitles, the original "Les Diaboliques". Avoid the Sharon Stone remake as if it was a dose of the clap.

The Departed is a thriller / action / comedy / lots of other stuff :p - a really good watch though.

Some great suggestions here, thanks guys. Plenty of stuff to check out.

We've already got The Prestige, and really loved it. Brilliant twist, which worked perfectly even though we'd had our suspicions for some time!
