Spec me a thriller!

Probably have seen them all, and only half fit the genre really..

Bourne Trilogy
Rear Window (195x)
Manchurian Candidate (200x) -very good film with Liev Schreiber & Denzel Washington, not sure why it's only got 6.7 on IMDB, higher on RT http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/manchurian_candidate/, this is one of my favourite movies
We Own the Night - fine performance from Joaquin Phoenix

Memento - also a must if you've not seen it before, very cool film, without being pretentious

I don't see Pathology mentioned, I found that quite thrilling - it has the psycho / horror element also.

Loving this thread, it's helping me pick what to watch tonight.

Have you seen the original? Much better imo.
Aye, the original is fantastic.

Wolf Creek

Dude that's a slasher gutfest, not a thriller.

Some terrific suggestions in this thread, thanks again guys. My shortlist is growing longer!

BTW, I watched Lamplight many years ago as a lad (my father was an Ingrid Bergman fan, and I can see why!) so that's on the menu as well. Highly recommended.

:)

Really? I don't recall it being like that.

Haven't watched it in ages though. :o

It's a movie in which a bunch of people are steadily killed off in various ways. In other words, a typical by-the-numbers slasher flick.

That's not what a thriller is. A thriller is driven by plot and suspense. It doesn't even need action, and it certainly doesn't need violence.

Fracture
The Prestige (Yes already mentioned twice but really worth watching)
Mindhunters
Butterfly on a Wheel
Pathology
Derailed
Five Fingers
Lakeview Terrace
The Lookout
P2 (although maybe more horror)
The Quiet
Righteous Kill
Running Scared
Taken
Traitor

Memento
The Departed
The Prestige - I really enjoyed this, took me by suprise.
Gone Baby Gone
Training Day
Zodiac
Fifty Dead Men Walking

I saw 'The Departed' and I would rate it highly. I didn't expect it to turn out as it did, a cut above all the films I have seen of late.

Well, so far we've seen:

Martyrs - good concept let down by excessive gratuitous violence
Kontroll - starts well, slows down too much in the middle, a bit obscure but much better than Martyrs
Fifty Dead Men Walking - fantastic!
Memento - fantastic!

Might watch The Departed next.

:)

Not Departed?

Arlington Road was pretty good from what I remember, one of the better films Tim Robbins has done since Shawshank.
