The main issue with the Lp12 as far as sound quality goes is indeed set up.
Time spent ensuring the deck's suspension, cartridge alignment, tracking weight and vertical tracking angle are properly adjusted is an essential "component" that can make or break the Sondek.
This is something that I tackle myself, having upgraded my deck from Basik LVX/K9/Valhalla status to the dizzy heights of Ekos/Arkiv/Lingo.
An hour or so using a common sense, sensitive approach to set up pays huge dividends with the Lp12,and once done properly they'll hold their tune for years, constantly rewarding you with some of the best music you'll hear!
It celebrated it's 40th birthday last year......how many Hi Fi components can boast that!!
Probably the most noticeable difference for me between the Linn and a digital source is the fact I can listen to the Linn for hours......easily!!!Digital music soon becomes fatiguing to my ears,it always sounds just a little hard and soulless to me.
