spec me a wallet

I'm using a zenlet - very happy with it too! Keeps me limited to carrying 6 cards or so which forces me to be sensible about what I carry! :)

****, I need WAAAYYYY more than 6 cards, lol.

I have at least 1 debit card (actually 3 in total), and 3 credit cards (2 personal + 1 work). I also travel a lot, so have some rewards cards for various airlines and hotel chains.

I suppose, in theory at least, I could run 2 wallets, one for at home, and one when travelling. But even then, I'd need at least 6 cards just for work / travel, plus I'd need my own CC and Switch cards. Plus drivers license as a minimum for ID (often need to carry other certification cards.

I then need cash compartments for at least 2 currencies. I hate having to carry such a fat / heavy wallet.

6 cards

What cards do you keep on you to have that many cards ?

I have piles of mostly useless store/restaurant loyalty cards which I leave in a wallet on my desk at home. What I pop in the Zenlet depends on what I'm doing for the day - work is easy:

  • Debit Card
  • Staff Discount
  • Loyalty Card
  • Driving License
  • Credit Card

Both payment cards are issued by different banks so I don't get caught short, Staff Discount/Loyalty are swappable with whatever I'm doing. Oh and contactless works through the case which is big enough to separate the 2 cards so I can choose which I pay with depending how I hold the wallet :)

out oif curiosity why do you need to carry around so many payment cards?

For credit cards, I might need to buy something for work purposes, so I need that at all times. I also do most of my buying on my cashback amex, but that isn't accepted everywhere, and I get 3% cashback on fuel with my Santander, so that's 3 cards.

I also have one of my debit cards for my "personal" spending. So anything just for me. That account is set-up for a strict weekly budget. Sometimes it may be necessary to purchase something more expensive though (such as alloy wheel refurbishment recently, car repairs, or a night out), and so I need to dip into one of our joint accounts to make up the difference. So need the card for at least one of them too. I won't be taking cash out of a credit card. So at a minimum I need 5 payment cards at pretty much all times.

I can never understand why people get wallets without a coin purse. Surely it's better than having loose change rattling around in your pocket?

Ive got a bellroy, think its the slim one its got plenty of space for cards and notes and has a little coin pouch, I dont use that part as its small and hard to get my fingers in to reach for the coins, but its handy to put a few pound coins in for emergencies. I just put my coins in my pocket now.

The wallet itself is very well made, had mine since Christmas.

It is impossible to maintain any dignity whilst extracting coins from a coin purse.

What was the one that was on kickstarter which used things like o rings or something to keep the two metal plates together?

I went for a Bellroy have seeing recommendations on here. They're OK but hardly amazing, and the quality is alright but not as great as some people make out, especially when you consider they're not exactly cheap... I have the Bellroy Hide and Seek Wallet which has a small pocket for coins. Always need somewhere to store coins!

Not all of us have ego issues.

Why don't you be a man and stick coins in your pocket like you're meant to?

:D
