Spec me a Watch

where do they get £4970 as the list of a TT GMT

thats the list of the anniversary edition not the normal one

the 18k serti sub is also about £1k overpriced

Ahhhh, just the sort of thread I'm looking for. I'm in the process of trying to pick a Rolex for my Dads birthday. I know he really likes the Air King (With Blue Face). Over here I've found it listed for around 1,500 quid. Can someone give me an idea of what this would cost in the UK. I've tried searching on the net and phoning a few companies. I can't seem to find anything and they won't give me a price over the phone!

I can't believe that I feel like cheap skate for looking at the cheapest Rolex watch available. Mind you I wear a 10 quid sekonda.

wtf are epeople suggesting. For that price i would choose a Breitling. Stunning watches and better than the the more comon ebay omega seamasters averagness.

But i have to say my 21st present TAG is the most beautiful watch i have seen even though im the most picky buy about technology ever, and my rents chose it. tooooooooot!!

Thanks for a picture of that Panerai Rotty, it looks a very very nice :)

Ooohhh choices, choices.

Because just like cars/women/music etc, everyone has their own opinion and viewpoint. Something that makes this forum one of the very best around. :p :D

other than the Navitimer,Montbrillant and Bentley I find that other Breitlings look very cheap, the "feel of quality" is not to the standard of some others at the same money ( though the fliplock clasp on Rolex sport models feels very poor ) , also depreciation on many models is very high. I still like the above mentioned models but most of the range does nothing for me

the PAM52 is a 40mm chrono on a bracelet but may be a bit expensive, if you try a Panerai on you will fall for it immediately, pics don't do them justice

another suggestion , Zenith el primero chronograph , fantastic movement in these ( the older Rolex Daytona movements were based on this )

That's a nice Panerai. Good proportions and the brown strap sets is off nicely.

In the research I did on the companies I foud that Zenith was a very well respected name but has slipped from the lime light. From what I understand some of the Zenith designs are the grandaddy of many of the Rolex etc mechanisms and is still highly regarded by the collector fraternaty.

Their current Defy Extreme range is a true to form marmite watch too although not to my tastes.

Yes, I struggle to see what the time is on the Defy Extreme. A little too busy for my liking.

I wish I could afford a Chronomaster XXT :D

You seem to know your stuff rotty. recieved plenty of sexy watches in christmas crackers ;)

i think my dads breitling is one of the most beautiful watches around, but it is roughly similar to my TAG so i am a little biased. Have to say that panerai looks sublime !

Zenith produced the mase movement which was used in the original ( new style ) Daytonas , this hase now been replaced by an in house movement

However the el promero movenent is still used by many companies , zenith make exceelent watches at good prices but maybe have suffered a bit due to lack of marketing

Best watch ever ..

IMG cut

Jack Bauers watch! :p

Edit: The proper model :D

Actually, Jack Bauer wore a (poor replica of a) Rolex Submariner date in the first three series of 24. Then they got him some rubber/plastic heap of junk for the other two. :(

Get a proper replica and pocket the rest of the cash, It would look, feel and function the same as the original at a tenth of the price.

It might function for a while but then die a death after 6 months or so, I've had a fair few snides in my time so I know.

I saved up and treated myself to a 2.5k Breitling, one of the best purchases I've ever made.

Getting ready to start thinking about my 40th birthday approaching next year, and to give the wife an idea to buy me a 'proper' watch, rather than the £35 wonders I usually bother with.

Budget will be approx £3k. I don't have huge wrists so it can't look too big. Sort of style that I have seen and liked was the Breitling Chronomat Evolutions.

Anyone (Rotty?) able to suggest a few different watches around this price mark that come recommended?

Cheers

Weel my friend you have the right brand, The Breitlings are superb. I have the Colt Super Ocean as i do a fair bit of Scuba.

But you won't go wrong with the Chrono Evo's. Buy, Buy, Buy....

IWC Classic Pilots chronograph... I got almost 400 off the list price which I was more than happy with.
