Why would you possibly do this? He has up to £10k to spend, the Vectra died 7 years ago thankfully. An Insignia is well within budget and better in every way.

The Vectra Estate is a car you buy with £2k not £10k!

That point has been made already; not that I would deny you the opportunity to point it out again.

In my defence, I made a silly mistake. I meant Insignia Estate. Let's all laugh at my stupidity once more for good measure then move along.

Just so you are aware, the Squashqai uses Renault engines.
a lot of the current Ford diesels are PSA (also French) engines.

Wasn't sure if you just didn't want a French car or a French engine :P

Don't know much about them but my parents recently picked up a Volkswagen Touran for some long distance road trips they have planned - seems fairly decent and the 30-40K milers seem to be around 10K.

EDIT: Have no idea what stuff like boot space is actually like to work with though.

I did not know that! I wanted legendary japanese reliability.

Indeed, it hasn't done me wrong for the last 15 years of Jap ownership :) Would you believe there was a guy in another thread on here debating their top spot for reliability lol. He was recommending skoda's to people.

Has anyone used or know of anyone to use available car? Im struggling like mad to find a petrol titanium c max. Sandicliff dont have 1 and evans halshaw have 3 but want £200 to bring one 80mile to Leicester! If i buy the £200 will be deducted off the price but if not i wont get it back.

Available car have 3, 1 of which has done less than 5000 mile and its only 15 mile for me.

The £200 is refundable, I just did it myself. It states that on their website too.

But it isn't easy to get back and to be honest I wouldn't use the company. The car turned up in a state, no history. They said it would all be prepped, blah blah blah, but it should have been prepped before I saw it!

The fact they lied to you as well and said you wont get it back is another reason to give them no money

Tried a c max and found it abit small for how big the car is outside. I'm defo leaning towards a qashqai. Trying a 1.6 petrol after work, though from the internet its underpowered. I did actually start and sit in a 1.5 dci and was amazed at how quiet it was and no wobbling of gear nobs on idle!

I was set on a petrol but i'm going to try both just to make sure. I actually like the qashqai+2 quite a lot, all that room will be much appreciated!

I'm not in a rush though, i dont mind if i dont find anything in the next few months to be honest. I want to try a few.

So only a c max and more than likely s max as not sure on looks ticked off the list so far. I was adamant on not getting a vauxhall as i and a few i know have just had endless trouble with them but a lad at work has an astra gtc and the quality has come up in leaps and bounds inside, and they must have faith in the mechanical side as they do a crazy long warranty (100,000 mile i think).

Anyway, qashqais tomorrow then maybe volvos.

We have the nissan, n-tec so has all the toys which is nice just no leather but this didn't bother me.

Have you checked the boot? If we are going on a day out shopping for example we take my A4 saloon as once we have a buggy in the Qashqai it is full!

It isn't a bad car but in all honesty I want my wife to change it for something totally different once the PCP ends. The materials used I cannot see lasting, ous is a 62 plate, I can't seeing the interior wearing well.

For £ vs equipment you can't beat the car, however I wish we went for a lower end Audi Q3 with less gadgets than the Nissan but at the time the Q3 was pushing our budget.

I said i've already put money down for a grand c max folks. Cheers for the help.

The qashqai +2 in 1.6na petrol is dire, the poor engine was not made for a 1 1/2 car!

I'll put pictures up when i get it.

I really, really do not get in with these and tbh I would never have one over a decent estate.

Cant inderstand why you'd need something liks this for one kid, they're horrible to drive - but at least if it's a titanium it'll be reasonably specced

 what's horrible about it? It doesn't have Sports car levels of precision but Ford are very good at making their cars drive "just right".

But then you said the S Max is horrible to drive too, which it isn't. Far from it, especially for what it is.

No sorry, they feel absolutely massive and ungainly despite just being quite tall - they wallow everywhere, the (diesel at least) gear ratios are judged terribly, they are particularly unrefined, brakes are terrible, steering is terible and the wheel has a horrid covering, seats are terrible.

It gets tiring reading everything from Ford is great when having driven them myself I really can't agree. They are a car for people who have totally given up in life.

I do think the S Max is pretty rotten to drive, but at least it is better than most of its size and that's more a case of reality vs what you read about them- these are just rotten.

Have you actually driven one?

Edit - OP apologies this wasn't really meant to be a rant about how bad your new choice of car is. If all you want is some sort of transport(which it sounds like is the case) I'm sure it will be fine.

I'll counter the above with - the sliding door is quite good

Fine, don't really agree but what about the c-max (which is what I meant but re-reading this wasn't clear)? Sounds like you'd be surprised

The S Max is in no way better to drive than say an insignia btw, but then why should it be? Anyway I'm not having that particular disagreement over and over
