Edit - OP apologies this wasn't really meant to be a rant about how bad your new choice of car is. If all you want is some sort of transport(which it sounds like is the case) I'm sure it will be fine.

I take everything you said with a pinch of salt to be fair. I have actually drove it and not just talked/looked/heard about it. The gearbox is extremely light and smooth, and the ratios were spot on. The steering was nice as it was light but didn't feel vacant. Road noise was better than my Lexus IS220d SE (probably due to it not having a tractor engine). It felt rather small to drive in my opinion, I did not have to adjust my driving style from driving the Lexus really, though in the car park the turning circle didn't seem very good, but hardly a deal breaker.

The wing mirrors are a little small I suppose, but I have noticed the ones on my Lexus are like Dumbo's ears and bloody massive so you see everything looking in them.

And for the reason of not getting an estate was simply space and height. If you've ever wrestled a 2-3 year old out of a car seat before you will know space is everything, and when you have to do it 10-20 times a week you thank god for the space.
 
I've driven them plenty, I get the misfortune of getting them on hire, think Avis like to wind me up, though I've managed not to get a 500" L" yet

Most of what you've just said is what I dislike about it, but flipped to make them positives from your just bought a new car perspective and are things that i would personally say make a car feel like cheap white goods. The one I can't understand is refinement, but then the diesel IS really isn't up to Lexus standards and I have only driven these in diesel

There is no point gling round in circles, it really doesn't matter what I think about the car if you're happy with it, but pointing me to a review (by ford??) really isn't going to change things.

Its a strange looking thing but does everything i want. Space is unreal compared to my old Lex. I can have 4 adults and 3 kids in it quite easily. The quality of interior/plastics is pretty good too. Speakers are terrible, i think my iphone sounds better.

Its actually quite nice to drive, nice light predictable steering, great road visibility with its 10footx8foot window screen :p. Power is ok, nothing special but plenty. I've averaged around 36mpg's over 10k miles so again just ok. The engine is nice and quiet, i've nearly left it running on a few occasions as i'm so used to dagdagdagdag tractor engines.

I do miss keyless entry a lot, but least its keyless start. Climate controls perfect, heated front window is a game changer on icy days!

It had 1 problem with not letting me in one day. It was a central locking fault which an ecu update seems to have solved.

Overall i would defo buy again as its what i need with a little kid and lots of uk holidays/day trips.
