Spec me an LED Torch

This is my latest purchase, its been reviewed loads of times on YouTube by edc channels and is highly rated.

I have serval touches that I’ve brought over the years.. while maglight were the market leader, it’s now considered as old tech and a lot of the Chinese brands have over taken them. I’ve had a few of them in the past and the aluminium body can bond to the cap over time.

the most important thing for me is to have an adjustable brightness or different brightness levels, walking on a dark country path next to a road should not be too bright as it’s very distracting to car drivers, while if your going down a dark alley, you might want to shine down the whole path before you enter it.

don’t shy way from head lamps or hats with lights in them, if your out jogging… its more stable than holding a torch. Normally I have a small one on my key ring and a light on my woolly hat.. lol

I still highly rate my Astrolux EA01S. If I were to upgrade, I'd like something with a bit more throw and less spread at the same or better brightness.

I've just spotted the Astrolux EA04 which looks like an improvement from the EA01S.

Which is a good 26650 battery to buy with a good enough discharge rate (40a or more?) to pair with the EA04?

Any thoughts on the sofirn q8 plus? I'm after a decent torch for walking in the dark, ideally needs to be good for a few hours on a decent brightness but ideally would last a number of days before needing to be recharged. Ideally I'd like a torch which has inbuilt charging so I can simply plug in a usb-c cable etc rather than a separate charger. If the q8 plus is overkill whats the next step down? Lastly is sofirn a good make or should I be looking at other brands?

I'd suggest the Sofirn SP36 BLF (not the SP36 Pro). More than bright enough, smaller and more practical than the Q8 Plus, and the battery will still last a decent length of time with 3 x 18650.

Even the single 18650 sofirns last several hours at decent brightness settings assuming you switch to the curved brightness adjustment mode rather than the stepped presets. All 3 of mine have been superb and outlast any previous torch.

No need for any massive handheld things I've got a tiny one thats designed to fit to the handlebars of a bicycle its no wider than a smarties tube, half the length and about the same weight and has blink, strobe, you name it and its so bright it'll blind you if you look into it Catseye Volt400XC amazingly bright its more than enough for general use. Charge via USB (aren't they all?)

I've had the q8 pro a couple years now and a big fan of it.

Just bought one of these, was on offer for £105.

Hoping it's a bit better quality than the £2.85 plastic torch I bought from Temu, which broke when I plugged the charging cable in! :p

I also have a Marauder Mini incoming with a case as well shortly. I have or used to have a load of Olights but I have trimmed my collection down quite a bit. Also recently bought a Baton 4 Premium Kit which has it handy charge case that can charge things on the go.

Snap, I bought a Baton 4 kit a few months ago, again on offer, great little torch, clip it on my belt as an EDC.

You mean the Baton 3 Kit as the 4 has only just been released. Can you case charge other devices with its 5000mAH Battery Pack ?

Can anyone recommend a good flood torch that's fairly small, water-resistant, rechargeable and with a battery life on higher powers of around 3 hours?

From a quick search something like the Marauder mini but a bit more budget friendly.

Fancied a new torch to play with on dog walks during the winter nights so treated myself the Lumintop Mach V2 4695.

immense torch ... pretty good that it can hold 8000 lumen constant fan assisted.
