Spec me an LED Torch

Good question. I'm thinking a bit bigger than that, can't you read my mind?! :P
Also, a proper handheld, not a 90 degree head/chest torch.
TBH, I've tried quite a lot of torches and find that a 90º one tends to work best for most situations, particularly as they can be clipped or magnetically clamped to surfaces for when you need hands-free or when the red light features are necessary.

So how big, exactly?
Are we talking an extra inch longer or greater girth, or are you more interested in a Maglite style?
Most dimensionally bigger torches don't offer much in the way of longer battery life and they tend to have similar brightness. Those that are brighter don't do it for long, as they automatically step down to avoid overheating. For that you're after the handheld spotlight style, which comes with a shoulder strap because it's that big.

I've found a few examples that might fit your spec - The red light requirement rules out a lot of other options, and some of these are discontinued, but for now we're just looking to see what sort of thing ticks the boxes...

I already have a few torches, most recently the Acebeam Terminator M1.

Imalent MS03 and Olight Marauder mini are on the way to me. I’ll probably return / sell the one(s) that are least useful once ive briefly tested.

Amazon have the Olight's on offer (making them 'OK' pricing wise), but you can add the Olight camping light for free (£40) on top, making it interesting if anyone wants to expand their Olight collection or start one.

Marauder Mini - £130
Marauder 2 - £200

I 'lost' my Marauder Mini to a scumbag used car dealer, I accidentally left my Torch in his office, phoned on the way home and he promised he'd send it on.. 10 phone calls/requests later he can't 'find' it anymore..

I've ordered the Marauder 2 on the basis I want to replace the Mini, but as I've had a couple of long walks where my phone is on its last legs when I set off, it can charge the phone.. The free camping light is already ear marked for someones birthday which is perfect..

Now, do I sneakily buy a 'mini' as well, that was super useful for its size, a real contradiction, looks like a grown up torch until you pick it up and realise its just so comfortable in the hand..

Ive had my Nitecore TM26 for 5+yrs now and its still working but you can't hardly see the display anymore as the lcd has gone really dim...

The only problem with the torch are the modes, they are rubbish because to turn it on and adjust the brightness is a tap of the button and a click of the button turns it on and sets it to full power... Now these modes are fine for me but other people use the torch automatically clicks the button,, so they always use the thing at full power and I keep saying "TAP IT" but na... The modes and the button tapping is soooo annoying, it should have 2 buttons, a on/off button and a mode button, plus the torch gets quite hot and drains the batteries real fast at full brightness...
The torch goes everywhere with me as I keep the torch a holder that I 3d printed out at the side of my chair.. Its fallen out of the holder a handful of time over the years when Ive forgotten to put the bar in to stop it sliding out, so its got a few ding marks and it always falls out while Im outside into the concrete, dammit.. I keep expected a led to fail or 1 of the led glass covers to be smashed when it falls out as it does make quite a bang,, but it seems quite dam tough as nothing has broken yet, touch wood.

I have a Fenix E35 and an Olight S1R baton and I'd like something a little bigger than both of these, anything worth grabbing from Amazon at the moment while the Spring sale is on? The Olight is a much whiter light than the Fenix and I prefer that.

I posted above, the Olight marauder mini - £130 (was £199) and get a free £40 Olight Camping LED Lantern.

Received a gift package from ENGWE today for their 11th birthday celebration, one of the items in the package was a torch which is actually rather cool, high quality construction, 3 mode main LED and side bank of LEDs with various modes too. USB charging with an 18650 cell inside with gaskets and weather sealing.

I wonder who the OEM for this is as not seen a similar one elsewhere. Tail is magnetic too.

I've ordered the Marauder 2

I saw from the things I've purchased thread that you did buy them both. So did I but I've just set up a return for the Marauder 2 for a couple of reasons. The on/off button had a slightly sticky feeling to it when pushed firmly which I've experienced on other things before and it never ends well. I also thought the light had a very slight hint of a green tint about it which I wasn't keen on. I did like the square spotlight though and loved the brightness but overall, no, it's not for me.

The Marauder mini is great though, love it.

I have joined the FireFly club today, I took delivery of the E07X Canon.

I really wanted the X4 Stellar but they didn't have navy in stock so I will have to wait.

Very nice!

I recently bought a Fireflylite T9R with SBT90.2. It’s a very controllable monster with the power of the sun down to output of a firefly. Love the UI

Gah, my Fenix TK12 is finally showing its age. Every time I turn it on it takes like 3-4 attempts for the light to remain on. I am going to take it all apart and give it a good clean and hope its just contacts getting dirty or something.

If not I might have to replace it. Hopefully I can find something similar with a nice neutral light.
