Spec Me: Exec Saloon 10k

Still "only" 300ish a month which isn't bad for that class of car tbh, even if it is a bit of a poverty spec engine.

Wouldn't be mine but I can sort of see the appeal

Sorry, this is SCREAMING Passat CC.

Looks the business, and seriously (60mpg) economical, and cheap to maintain as its all diesel VAG running gear.

10k would get you a 60 or 61 plate GT model with adjustable suspension.

I don't know much about the car but I do know I want one every time I see one.

So +1 to this :)

Yo. Yep not too sure on leasing, I'm a guy who likes to own the car so it's mine when I've finished paying the loan back. Anyway ended up with this 3 series 320d 2008 reg 53000 miles, which was just shy of 10k. Thanks for your advice although no one agreed with the 3 series! I did look at an a3 but everyone at work has them so I joined team BMW. Going to tidy up two wheels and look at some spare winter tyres for the rears.

Does it have Pro nav?

It has no Idrive, you can tell as its missing the hump in the dash. To be fair if it was a Nav fitted car it would have been a lot more money.

53k means its eligible for the lower rate BMW warranty which I would seriously consider getting, it's 40something a month for comprehensive cover and with a 2008 car with that engine I would say its money well spent. Spend some time on google looking at the N47 timing chain problem...

An AA warranty!? Why? The proper BMW warranty is much much better and you only have this one chance to get it at the sensible price rate, it goes up on price significantly if you take it out over 60k miles. There should be a cooling off period on the AA one, I would seriously consider changing to the BMW one instead. Everything will be covered through your main dealer that way, not sure i would want a random garage handling an engine replacement if you get the timing chain problem.

Third party warranties can be a real pain. The AA one is probably on of the better ones but I still don't understand why anyone wouldn't just pick the BMW one on a sub 60k mile 3 Series.

If you are particularly price conscious you can remove the BMW emergency service from the policy and save about a hundred quid. It's a good service but even without it you will still get recovery to the nearest dealer.
