Spec me - Phillips screwdriver set

I have a bahco ratchet, it’s been my go to for the last ten years plus, I do like the look of the Wera set posted by Mason

Hi all

Many moons ago when I got my first car I was gifted a screwdriver set to do the basic maintenance jobs etc. The Phillips ones have finally rounded off too much and I've just got in from fixing a gate and I'm annoyed enough that I'm eyeing up my credit card for some new ones. When I've bought the odd new Phillips in the past it's been so soft steel it might have been playdoh, so spec me a brand or set that's worth buying please.

Thanks in advance

If still to be used on vehicles I can recommend a ratchet driver that accepts bits and also a box of bits, which will mostly be Torx

Hardly do work on the car these days. Mixture of time, having more spare money to pay someone else to do it, more reliable car and modern cars being more complex to work on than my 1.3l J reg Proton of powah that was my first car. Definitely going to pick up some wera bits thanks to you lot.

I've got a box full of every type of mini side rachet, adaptors for bits and a Snap-On ratchet driver for back in the day, when only one tool would fit through that gap, and now I only really use my sparks set, which is one handle and multi heads and those I bought to go with my impact and other battery drills.

I can, but don't like working on cars anymore.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Wera, Teng or the Halfords ones, I use a mixed Stanley set, quite a large box, which has Philips, Pozi and Flat screwdrivers in it.

They are not magnetic though, which I find handy, so I bought a magnet and magnetise them myself.

When I want a quality tool which will last I get Wera. Expensive but quality.

If its a 1 off job that needs a specific and less commonplace bit then I'm not against getting whatever cheap cheese brand is available.

Wera or Wiha. Both German, both good enough quality. Both are often on offer at Amazon - don’t pay full price!

Wera - get it from Amazon Germany, it's cheaper there.

Although I only needed something for 1 job last month and paid less than £20 for a set of 3/8 ratchet with nuts from Draper. Did the job and surprisingly excellent for the money.

I bought a Wiha set years ago, which are serving me well - granted I use my impact drive far more than them though and I've torn through many bits on that.

The Wihas are used for DIY stuff where the impact isn't suited, and I used an LTT Screwdriver for indoor/tech related tinkering. The LTT screwdriver is amazing IMO.

The LTT screwdriver is really nice to use and is v good quality, my only issue are the grips on the bit storage can become uncomfortable when you grip the handle tightly.

tbh is main use is as a fidget tool, holding the shaft and spinning it on the ratchet :D

I've got my name down for the precision screwdriver

I had to look up these LTT and was surprised that I have something very similar -I can see a very faint name of CAPRO 15 on the side and the O is a PH screw head. It stores the bits in handle exactly the same.
I did find years ago do not put a small bit in it as it won't come out -had to drill a small hole in side to put a pin in to pop bit out - Other than that it has up till I bought all the screwdrivers my go to screwdriver - It's well over 25 yrs old as it was a work screwdriver.
