Hi there.

I currently have some Razer Barracudas, which im using with my XFI Xtreme Music soundcard. To be quite honest, for a pair of such expensive headphones, they are no better than my old Sennheiser PC125s.

Ive managed to sell my barracudas again on the bay and lost out on oly £5, leaving me with £90 to spend on some high quality, bassy headphones.

Can anyone spec me some new ones? Ill be using them to play games such as BF2142, COD2, CSS, and Crysis when it is released. Id like quite a bit of bass from the headphones as im quite a bass junky :p (hiphop, funky house, drum&bass). They dont HAVE to be 5.1 surround, as long as they are good quality etc and meet my needs =]

Thanks =]

Can't beat 'em. :)

I have the old model HD85's and the cans are quite large and surround your ears. Very comfy, plus, they handle bass really well. :) Obviously the one I've linked to is the top of the range model, they do lower models. But well worth the money. Plus wirelss is cool, means you can go pee and not miss anything! :p

i was thinking of getting some 5.1s but tbh i honestly have no idea what i want to get. i dont think i actualy need them as i play very little with a need for bins. i was looking at the steelsound H5 v2s though for a 5.1 set or maybe some PC161s for just good ole stereo.

beyerdynamic dt770 80ohm

was recommended them for gaming over at head-fi.org, got them this week £80 inc, and they really are great in games, can hear everything, just waiting for my x-fi to arrive to make them even better :D

If you are a gaming bass junky then the Beyerdynamic DT-770 (80 ohm) are the headphones for you mate!

I personally use Audio Technica ATH-A900 which are fantastic for gaming; very large spacious sound stage, deep resonating bass, detailed, fairly balanced frequency response and very comfy. They also have a long cable and don't require a headphone amp which is ideal for a PC setup.

yep, it really is out of those 2 headphones for gaming, i picked the dt770's as they seemed more readily available to buy, get them, you wont be disappointed

Quoted for truth, I have this exact setup and by god they sound sweet together!!

I bought the headphones after I got the X-Fi Fata1ty sound card, which itself is pretty good for music and some of the trance tunes I possess had to be listened to again just because the headphones are so awesome. A lovely set of cans I'll be getting some newer ones this summer post finals I think :)

I have a piar of HD25s and absolutely love them. I only listen to r'n'b and hiphop, meaning bass is very important. These cans handle it well, plus they're noise cancelling. Def check them out before you consider anything else.

for those who says razers were ****e.

so the razers arnt bassy? on the spec it says it can go down to 1.5 Hz!!! thats way below audible frequency...
or do you mean its not loud enough?

and isnt it because of your sound cards? i say because it goes against a lot of reviews i read.

doesn't matter how low the bass goes, if it's boomy and uncontrolled then it's going to sound crap. A good pair of beyer's or senns will have a much tighter and accurate presentation of the lower bass fequencies. These headphones produced by PC peripheral manufacturers are crap and will remain like that when compared to proper high quality headphones.

Can't wait to see someone post that BOSE have published specs of their amazing new patented designed sound enhancment engineered headphones that go down to -5Hz, and up to way over 50khz :p

If you want headphone advice from the uber geeks, then as ever get over to headfi !

The reason I thought that is because most headphones I looked at went down to roughly 20hz when razers went down to 5hz.. I know there is no proportionality between how low the frequency can go and amplitude of it but if it goes down that low then you would have thought they would make it really good or something.

and what would be the best headphone with surround sound...

Surround headsets really arent worth it. A decent set of cans can simulate nearly everything you need to know, especially combined with say CMSS of the X-FI. Going to xxx frequency is no use if the distortion at those frequencies or reproduction is shocking.

Got some Sennheiser HD280Pro. Pretty nice headphones, but they're studio jobbies so can get a little uncomfortable for prolonged listening as they tend to clamp quite well against the side of the head!
