Spec me somewhere to go this weekend!

Isnt the food limited to certain times though? I would hate Diddums to get annoyed and punch his Mrs.

Is she like mine, and a slow slonker of makeup? Just leave them behind in their room to receive both cold food and a cold welcome from the peeved staff whilst you make friends on a full stomach at the bar.

One the “the Pig” restaurants? Have accommodation and great food (apparently). Not too much of a trek for you and no snow issues. Staying in one ourselves in a couple of weeks due to some great recommendations. Pricey.

Yup - nice, but most definitely pricey. Too pricey, really.

I’ve only stayed at the one near Bath and it was good, but it’s gone up in price ridiculously. £225 per night min and they require a 2 night stay for Friday and Saturday nights. I’m pretty sure that is double rates from 2-3 years ago….

So…. Um, no. But if money is no object, there are worse places to go.

Whilst this is begging for the usual North Wales seaside suggestion

I have starred out your quote in case I get reported, as I'm pretty sure it's a banned word on this forum, but anyone know why it's a banned word? I know nothing about the place, but if it's really a "bad" North Wales seaside town, then why not just disclose what the bad points are about this town?

As others have said though, might want to leave it 1 week for the cold snap to pass, unless it ends up being like the Beast from the East. 5 years ago already that was!

@Diddums - If staying in London, I wouldn't mind trying out the Science Museum, Madame Tussauds, Harrod's as not been to any of those for 10+ years, plus a British / local pub, all are indoors. I like the local accents in the pubs, although not everyone's cuppa tea I know.

If these are too trivial (as you're in London anyway), then maybe a city break in Bristol? Places to eat / drink / stay on the seafront with a big pier for night time entertainment, bars / restaurants.

I’m quaking in my boots. Guess I better edit my post then :o

Jump on a cheap flight to France or something. Weekend in Paris might give you some brownie points...
Otherwise, hang out in SC with the cool kids.

I'd probably steer clear of France at the moment whilst they're all raging about putting the retirement age up to some ridiculously low age.

It was a very heavily overused joke when replying to 'spec me a holiday' threads for a while and the mods got bored of it. I'm right about the weather, both my girls' schools are closed this morning. We don't generally get snow where I am, but this morning is certainly thick enough to make travel fun. Merseyrail cancelled until after 9 and the M53 traffic on google maps at 7am is looking very red.

Cheers folks, after today it looks like I'll be working all weekend, and the weather is crap so we're staying in.

I work at the Natural History Museum and my wife works at Harrods, we've had our fill of them for a bit :D

Yep, it was another one of those hahaha-you-made-the-same-joke-you-are-so-funny things that certain people love to push, a bit like the hilariously funny and not at all worn out beyond belief letterbox joke.

From memory it was something to do with the Dons having a timeshare there and not wanting to bump into forum members on holiday.
