Played this last night, how the hell is this getting so many good reviews? It's a generic 3rd person shooter, what's the USP?

edit: title should read The Line not Front Line

On another forum I browse people said that the story is good but the rest is just a generic 3rd person shooter

As has been said the game doesn't exactly break no ground, but I have to say that the music in the game is absolutely top notch.

After getting this on amazon.coms deal, I've nearly finished the singleplayer and it does have a fairly decent singleplayer with the exception of some silly gameplay features. But I've pretty much given up on multiplayer.

I tried to play it and found that it has no server browser, just a matchmaking thing which 3 times put me with 1 or 2 other people on a server where I'm having to wait 2 mins for a map vote before anything even starts. The other 10 times I tried it didn't do a match so just started a game from scratch with me as a host waiting for players... and then another 2 min of waiting for a map vote once players join. And if you leave a game to try and find a better one, you are stuck in a 'leaving game' message for a few seconds, then have to waste more time going through the menus again as it kicks you to the main menu, not the previous multiplayer menu. I give up, not worth the hassle, it's obviously not a proper MP game.

finished it on xbox and it is actually a pretty good game , doesnt seem like much at the start just a generic third person shooter but its the story that makes it good as it becomes totally ****** up later on and you get different moral choices which are really dark after you see the consequences

I am waiting for a price reduction but it does remind of the R6:Vegas games. They were pretty dam good, nothing special but a lot of fun getting the headshots.

At least this has no back catalogue of realistic hardcore tactical games in the series, its just a unashamed shoot em up.

And I dig that.

No doubt about that Eames. What has happened to the GR and R6 brand names is nothing short of sacrilegious. There are a few people that should go before the gaming inquisition.

yes VEGAS is the best game i've ever played for realistic guns, the guns are flipping brilliant.

spec ops is 3rd person :(..... never good, Vegas is 1st

Vegas is also good for AI conversation/ chat, it's quite funny to hear what the terrorists say to each other.

the next R6 Vegas is set in New York and looks pretty damn good !
