Hey guys & gals.

Someone i know is needing a new computer/imac so I have suggested he builds his own. He isn't very confident with doing this (like most first timers) but as we all know it is pretty easy. I can't really suggest much in the way of components because I have been out of the loop for a while so I was hoping you guys could help me. This is what he has said to me:

  • I want a pc that can render in real time if you can build me something like that for less than £800 then let me know
  • Well a future proof pc would be ideal, i'm not so fussed about hard drive because you can update that but something around 1tb area would be alright, graphics card and cpu ... the i can get for the money. Basically i want a pc that i will never be able to use to its full capability

Pretty vague I know but you guys are a clever lot and I have faith in you :D
Oh and £800 is only a rough budget, he said he doesn't have a budget as such he just doesn't want to pay over the odds for what he needs.

I hope some one can help out.

Thanks

Go with nvidia then for after effects, the cuda helps playback while you edit maybe a 670?

A GTX 670 is a bit of step up from a 6850, a £220 step up!

*edit* If you take out the ATi GPU that Sparx suggested that leaves just under £200 for an nVidia Card. Any ideas? 560Ti?
