Hey guys & gals.

Someone i know is needing a new computer/imac so I have suggested he builds his own. He isn't very confident with doing this (like most first timers) but as we all know it is pretty easy. I can't really suggest much in the way of components because I have been out of the loop for a while so I was hoping you guys could help me. This is what he has said to me:

  • I want a pc that can render in real time if you can build me something like that for less than £800 then let me know
  • Well a future proof pc would be ideal, i'm not so fussed about hard drive because you can update that but something around 1tb area would be alright, graphics card and cpu ... the i can get for the money. Basically i want a pc that i will never be able to use to its full capability

Pretty vague I know but you guys are a clever lot and I have faith in you :D
Oh and £800 is only a rough budget, he said he doesn't have a budget as such he just doesn't want to pay over the odds for what he needs.

I hope some one can help out.

Thanks

no problem

Only problem with the above build is there is no power supply or DVD drive - and I think you will need a PSU at minimum of the 2!

Here are my £0.02, which is nicely below the budget.. :)

I am assuming he isn't a hardcore gamer and plays the latest games and this rig is mainly for rendering so I didn't opt for a massively powerful GPU. But the ATI 6850 is still a good card and can play the latest games at medium settings and games like CoD etc at max settings at a decent res.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £274.99
1 x MSI HD 6850 OC 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £83.99
1 x MSI Z77A-G43 Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £77.38
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1000DM003) £74.99
1 x OCZ ZT 550W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular Power Supply £63.98

I am sensing a ninja edit ;)

Thanks a lot though!

Haha! Ok I give up.. I had a Gigabyte mobo in as well but I ninja edited it within like 20 seconds.. ;)

But still, it made it even cheaper..!

EDIT - Carmina you aren't going blind, I was being a ninja. :)
