Waiting for them all to drop to binge, wonder if it’ll be similar to Columbiana?

Yeah that was good too but this is closer to a Tom Clancy story imo, more realistic and reminds me of Body of Lies. Jack Ryan fans should like this i reckon. Btw Nicole Kidman is unrecognisable what has she done to herself?.

Sounds like my kind of show. Is it gripping enough to catch up 4 epiosdes and continue weekly? Or slower burn and better to wait 4 weeks and binge it?

Yes i would say catch up now, its got pretty good pacing and does a good job introducing u to the characters and their backgrounds. It also escalates quite quickly which is good so doesnt slow burn too much. So should get you hooked soon enough :D.

Sheridan pretty much single handedly carrying paramount at the moment.

Same writer as Sicario, Yellowstone, Mayor of Kingstown, etc.
I liked both Sicario films and have been meaning to watch Wind River. In terms of TV I haven't actually watched any of his stuff. The 3 cowboy western series just aren't my thing and I avoided Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King as well.

But the trailer alone for Lioness is good enough for me to dedicate the rest of this evening to watching it!

I generally hate westerns but totally got drawn into Yellowstone - haven't done 1883/1923 yet though.

Mind if I asked why you haven't bothered with Mayor of Kingstown, first season was an absolute powerhouse of a show, haven't started S2 yet - Renner is an excellent leading man.

Honestly i've never been a big fan of Renner, I can't quite put my finger on why. Good as Hawkeye, can't think of anything else he's stood out in, but maybe watching Wind River will change that opinion! He had a big accident recently, I wonder if he will act again or indeed make another season of Mayor of Kingstown.

That's fair enough, I hate Anthony Mackie although I can give a hundred reasons why :D

Wind River is exceedingly good and quite underrated.

I've noticed a few random comments in threads where people hate on Mackie and been baffled!

I might create a "why do people dislike xxx Movie/Tv star" although it has the capacity to get out of hand very quickly, I suspect :D

In simplest terms, Mackie has failed upwards, zero range actor who keeps getting work, it's shocking.

Anyway, at the risk of hijacking this thread, please make the other one and i'll expand on Mackie hate there :D

The reviews so far are very mixed, lots of love/hate which all equal out to about a 3/5 overall so far. I'm intrigued enough by the concept, cast, writer and well to be blunt the "military porn" too, that I'll give it a go at some point and see how it pans out.

Variety - "cliché" and "shameless military propaganda"

The Hollywood Reporter - "script seems to be constructed with the assumption that most of the audience will only be half-watching while scrolling Facebook on their phones"

The Guardian - 3/5 - "There are hints here and there that it could become something better than the high-class hokum the pilot delivers."

Empire - 3/5 - "Despite its flaws, Lioness is further proof that TV’s busiest showrunner knows how to put a big, ballsy TV drama together."

The Independent - 2/5 - "Saldaña is an able lead, but not a memorable one. Nothing about this series is, in fact, memorable."

Let us know what you think.
Watched all 4 episodes.

It's quite good. Not Jack Ryan level (or at least not yet). More Homeland with the at least 10-15 mins per episode on the needless family melodrama :D
I found the "training" in episode 2 a bit hard to watch and quite unexpected. In general Cruz seems to get quite a tough time, physically.

I haven't seen any other Sheridan shows, but if they plan to complete the story this season, then they haven't revealed enough (about the main plot/bad guy), at the half way point. If the story continues next seasons, then they need to up the ante quite soon. I shall continue with the remaining 4 episodes to see where it all goes anyway.

Nicole Kidman does look weird in this, but that's another story. Morgan Freeman is invisible, so far.

Yeah they focused a little too much on parts which doesn't contribute an awful lot to the overall story.

For me

Particularly the teenage rebels daughters and also the party goers and their habits etc.
.

However the action ramps up quickly which is a plus.

It's gone slow last couple of episodes. No way the story will be wrapped up this season. Shame. Too much time spent on boring family melodrama that doesn't go anywhere.
