Specs 3

Drivers who slow down briefly or who make a detour from the main route will still be caught because up to 50 of the cameras will work together in a network

so surely stopping in a layby for a minute will counter this?

going to be a lot of stupid driving to get round these systems...

You just know they're going to put several of them on long, straight sections of road, which are perfect for safe overtaking. :(
I hate this government.

Indeed, and IMO it will lead to more accidents because of overtaking. People will be exposed to danger much longer because they will be afraid to put thier foot down when overtaking, they'll just accelerate up to the posted speed limit and overtake, rather than giving it a dollop of throttle to get past as quickly and safely as possible.

I can see it now, somebody overtaking somebody doing 45 in a 50 zone, and taking ages to overtake because they are afraid of breaking the 50 limit.

Yeah, sounds much safer

Will know one take clarksons advice ???

Plow through at 120mph, then pull up for a pee or drink :D

*Sensible hat* Sigh, by the time i can afford a nice enough car the network will probably be littered with them, then old biddies will be outside their houses in *** country with guns given to them by police, shaking wildly giving us tickets for 250mph :/

I like driving fast so don't get me wrong, but why would you zoom along for a mile just to pull in a layby and wait?

i ment with regards to when you have that lapse of concentration and don't even see the darn things... then realise you are in a zone being monitored and need to save those precious points on your license :p

Nah, my front numberplate is being velcro'd on though for those 'special times' :D

:D

I haven't had a front plate for ages. I can't see myself putting one on any time soon.....

Yep its total BS, i hate following people who do 45 - 50 in a 60 so i overtake most of them, i like to get past asap so as anyone would do drop a few cogs and floor it, by the time you get past and pull back in i'm doing around 80 or more if its a line of 'do-gooders'.

*Above figures in Kph...

The idiots who like to do silly speeds just for kicks will. Those of us who just like to cruise along at 85-90 so we can get where we're going sooner will be stuffed.

Yup, not so great.

But I save the planet by cruising along at 60 in the inside lane ;):D

I hate the fines, I think it is an outrageous stealth tax. It is meant to be a penalty, but it is dressed up as farty "safety measures".

I would much rather they issue a warning for the first offence, a hefty fine for the second and then come around and arrest you for the third.
