Drop of fairy liquid, clean under tap. Then air blower to blow the water off. That way no cloth ever touches it.

If you reuse the same cloth to clean it over and over you are just moving dirt around along with dragging dirt over the lens scratching it.

Shirt if clean, I only use fairy if I have grease spots from frying stuff.

Soap and water, and an old toothbrush to get in the nooks and crannies. Dry off with a towel.

The 70% alcohol wipes that are around a lot these days as sanitising wipes (if you hate your hands) are good for degreasing the heck out of your lenses then a dry clean cloth after.

Letting the alcohol residue evaporate on its own leaves streaks, possibly because the grease gets deposited back down again since it can't evaporate with the alcohol.

I bought a humongous box of Zeiss wipes in a Walmart in Georgia US years ago, for something like $9.99,
They sell something similar in Tesco nowadays, probably at twice the price.

Similar to Feek - lens cleaner and a microfibre cloth - make sure it is one designed for cleaning this kind of stuff though, ones designed for car interior cleaning, etc. generally won't give the best results on glasses.

I either use a lens cleaner and microfibre cloth like feek or Zeiss lens cleaning wipes (I tend to use the cloth/cleaner for daily and the wipes for a thorough clean)..

From memory opticians usually recommend not using things like washing up liquid as it's very mildly abrasive and can damage the lens/coatings.

I use Zeiss lens cleaners.

These work great for me. 13 quid will buy you 200 on t'interweb

20 odd years of washing up liquid , the salt hasn't caused any issues on my lenses, just hit the opticians bottom line.

alcohol swabs or air blower (presumably not a heat gun ? tinned air is expensive too ? ) I'd be suspicious of, like I don't use alcohol on tv screen.

If you look at the ingredients of the Zeiss lens wipes mentioned up the page, they're alcohol wipes.

Another one for Zeiss lens spray here, and then a clean microfibre but the rougher variety (not smooth) not sure if this is ideal but hey my glasses always get scratched from work anyhows.

usually soap and water for a quick clean, or M5 wipes from Lidl for a proper clean.
dunno what it is but every pair i've owned for some reason has one lens that's much hard to clean that the other.

Hans that do dishes is as soft as Yervaise with vile green hairy lip squid.

this is a massively under appreciated post. But it’s getting some quote loving from me - although I knew it as ‘wild green hairy lip squid’
