Spectacles Wearers

The spec savers lens bright but I couldn't get it in a decent size last time I tried so it was better value to get a double bottle pack of Zeiss Lens Cleaning Spray from Amazon. I just use this with the cleaning cloth that came with the glasses.

Soldiers?

please someone tell me wht the hell is going on here?
Wait, we’re not playing a word association game now?! :p
you said ‘touché’ I said ‘turtle’ - touché turtle was a cartoon character from way back
You said ‘duck’ I said ‘tales’ - duck tales was a cartoon series from way back
You said ‘tall’ I said ‘Paul’ - breaking with the cartoon theme I went for a DJ
:D:D

Most specs come with a microfiber cloth. Sometimes use the same screen cleaner from my monitors if it's really heavy dirt.

Much the same here, although I use a simple household microfibre cleaning cloth from Wilko. £1 for 3 IIRC. Somehow, the cloth that came with the glasses scratched my reading glasses. I'm guessing there was some tiny bit of debris in the glasses case and that did it. Anyway, someone at work said they used the cleaning cloths we use at work for hard surfaces on their glasses so I tried that. Perfect. Not so much for carrying around (they're too big), but I have a few at home and there are always clean new ones at work. Even though I have polycarbonate lenses(*), which are noted for being easy to scratch, they've been fine.

* There is a good reason for that - that's the material used for the lenses that have the highest refractive index that I can use effectively. One of the side effects of my pretty poor natural eyesight is that I lose peripheral vision if my lenses have a higher refractive index. Which is less than ideal because I could use higher refractive index lenses to get the thickness and weight down to something more convenient, but it is what it is.

Even hoya site says V https://www.hoyavision.com/uk/what-i-need/for-spectacle-wearers/caring-for-my-lenses/
and describes their wipes as a mobile solution - QED

  • Clean the lenses and frame regularly with lukewarm water and a drop of mild liquid soap.
  • Dry the lenses with a soft, clean microfibre lens cloth, often provided by your optician.

If only their web site had reminded me not to sit on my glasses too. ..
obviously running water immedately carries away debris ... but for wipes - first wipe cuts the deepest. (original version)

My only issue with a microfiber on my glass maui Jim's is that my lifestyle involves a lot of sand and grit, if I'm out and about I can rince and pat dry with loo roll rather than risk a scratch (lens replacement is 80 ish but last time they gave me new arms foc also)
They say not to use alcohol wipes,
I have some 3.5 x reading glasses for changing the thermal printer characters at work but they get a quick t-shirt wipe

I’ve been to some Siemens rail sites where they service the rolling stock. They supply Uvex lens wipes to all their staff as part of their health and safety so spectacle wearers have no problem seeing an oncoming train!

The coarser micro-fibre cleaning clothes are the way to go. I’ve always found the ‘flat’ cloths that come with glasses to be rubbish.

There is also a degree of accepting that your glasses with get a little smeary from time to time and it’s no biggy. Otherwise you can get a little OCD about it.
