Speculation over Webber re-signs for 2013

Fair dinkum maaaaaate.

Well, if nothing else, this livens the press up a bit for more speculation as to where the others will go

Maybe Vettel will replace Massa, Hamilton goes to Redbull, Rosberg to Mclaren, Di Resta to Merc, Massa to Force India.

Everyone is happy (except Massa)

Great stuff for webber, always thought he was a better driver than vettel.

Give him equal gear and it's showing this year :)

People talk a lot about driver style wrt getting the most out of cars or tyres but never seem to mention it wrt driver line ups. Many said last year that Vettel's style got more out of the tyres/car because he was smoother whereas Webber has a more aggressive style. The same with Button/Hamilton. This year seems to have gone back to favouring the Webber/Hamilton style of driving.

For a team this means developing a car for two differing styles of driving. I have always thought that Vettel and JB would make a good pairing and Hamilton/Webber. The teams would then be more likely to develop a car that suited both drivers in their team.

I would imagine some of the teams will be after Perez, I imagine he will replace Massa at the end of the year

I think this, and the potential for Di Resta to take Schumachers seat at Mercedes, are the only changes we are likely to see at the top for next year now :(

Is there a reason people want "musical chairs shenanigans"? Isn't watching them race enough without craving conflict?

I think most people [well me anyway] like a certain driver and a certain team. This naturally makes you want to see certain car/driver pairings. Personally, there is a certain driver with a yellow crash helmet that i would love to see here.

Just seems a bit arbitrary though *shrug* Shake-up for shake-ups sake rather than because it might be the right decision for the teams.

I know Mclaren have been pants this year, but getting Hamilton in a long contract with Mclaren could be great for 2014. My thinking is that Mclaren have been going for the low nose concept for a long time now which could seriously help them with the 2014 rule change where you need a very low nose (unless i'm imagining things again)

in the mean time we just have to hope that mclaren step up the development and hire mechanics and strategists that dont fall apart under pressure

Massa? :D

I would still support Mclaren but I would follow LH to what ever team he goes to.

I have always liked MW and was very happy to see him win Silverstone. Glad he has kept a top seat, well deserved seat for him.

Infact I like all the drivers except maldaspoiltbratuglymonkeyface. Hope he doesn't get a seat next year or messes up his next shunt causing him to injure him self and never return to the sport. One can only hope.

Big Mclaren supporter here before we even had Lewis and Jenson there. I'd love to see Jenson and Lewis extend contracts for Mclaren. Mclaren are a world class team. There's no reason for either of them to move. You win some you lose some in F1. Next year the Mclaren might be ahead and get a good development program.

This year has been difficult with the tyre degredation lottery. I think Pirelli have gone too much the other way and made them not durable enough.

I guess my point is, is there really a need to go jumping about after the "best" car, when the best car at the moment is not clear at all. It's very competitive accross the calendar depending on circuit and is much more towards strategy and tyre management now.

Its not about causing conflict, other wise I would be wanting Hamilton to go to Ferrari, its about seeing drivers compete in the same or different machinery.

It's also about just wanting some change up the top. The teams have been stagnant for a number of years now. Moving drivers about also adds another layer of excitement and interest.

Skeeter is spot on.

Seeing Vettel in the same machinery as Alonso/Hamilton would be fantastic. I believe that would be the acid test for Seb.

Acid test? He has been out performed already by Mark in the same car. What more of a test do you want?
