Are you saying you've never seen a computer program use KB/s when they mean KiB/s?

I hardly ever see KiB, MiB, GiB, but it's still quite often what's meant.

Because they aren't using the proper SI standard that they should be using, doesnt meant that they are right.

no, doesn't make it right. but most people don't know what a kibibyte is.

Which is exactly why os should be using the proper 1000 btyes as a kilobyte, it would stop so much confusion such as hard drives appearing with loads less capacity than they actually are and why they can only burn 4.4GiB on a 4.7GB disk.

Actually fdisk under Linux expresses units in MiB/GiB

ISPs without a download limit (or equivalently a "fair usage policy") are few and far between and massively expensive. (As they need to be - "unlimited" downloads isn't a feasible pricing plan unless it's very expensive) When there's a 390GB limit what's the problem?
