Hi all,

Has anyone seen the first episode of Speed with Guy Martin on Ch4 - He is a well established TT rider, and his new series is breaking speed records

The first episode was of him breaking a speed record for cycling in a slipstream of a lorry, yes cycling! Doing 100mph +

Check it out if you can, seriously interesting, cant wait to see what he has lined up next.

I watched it.

I was gob smacked at what he was doing !!!!

The man's mad. At least he's a Northener !!

Guuna ride on water next ? Can't wait to see that.

Just checked at the first one is on Catch Up.

Just if anyone is interested, his documentary film "TT-Closer to the edge" which follows him in the TT is also a very good watch.

But really enjoyed the first episode of his speed breaking attempts

He certainly is a mad northerner, he has no fear of death at all, doing that behind a lorry does not look safe :p

was very good!

like a top gear challenge but with actual effort and risk!

funny how many of the people working on it were worried about Guy Martin "ending up like a sandwich getting thrown out of a car window" and he was all just "naaaaah ill be reet"

was cool to see loads of Hope and Orange logos on the tv too

He's a real star, the kind of down to earth bloke you can look up to... While not necessarily wanting to be!

His series last year, about converting a longboat (? Memory might be failing me) was also very good. Made me think he might be a kind of Fred Dibnah on steroids. Looking forward to seeing much more of him... If he lives long enough! Nutter. :-)

Fred Dibnah , he was right character . Knocking great huge chimneys down by setting fire to them. Then hooting his little horn to worn that a HUGE pile of bricks was coming..

CRAZY !!!!

Thanks for the reccomendation on the boat that guy built, not seen this one.

Just had a scan of next Sundays speed one, speed record for hydroplaning a bike on water. This should be interesting

It was one bad ass truck! I thought he broke his ankle at one point the way it looked on the first run.

He lives not for from my parents and my dad knows his dad. Apparently he is exactly like he is on TV in real life. He lays it on too thick though if you ask me, I would probably get sick of him in 5 minutes if I ever met him myself. And all that "She'll be reet" stuff when faced with very real danger whilst being advised by experienced professionals, that would *really* get on my nerves.

I watched the first episode the other day and I couldn't believe the speed he did. On sand. Would love to see them get a stretch of motorway closed for him to do it on a decent surface. I'm sure he could go much faster still.

I don't think anyone could justify shutting down a motorway, even at night, but what about the VAG test circuit at Ehra-Lessien where they test the Bugatti Veyron top speeds. It has a 6mile straight which could be useful!

This is such a stupid chuckling episode. The first was better. There's a reason why Jet Ski's were made.

Enjoyed tonights episode, although there were a few modifications the record was clear. Really enjoyed the aspect of the training and planning, but that run before the record run looked abit harsh, watched that university guy do the dambusters thing which is also good.

Can't wait for the next one, he's in the air :p

That's crazy with the water emulsifying with the oil! The next one should be good too!

last weeks was more impressive but still great tv :D however I think i was more amazed the bike still worked after being hydro locked numerous times and being sunken so deep!
