Speed with Guy Martin - Ch4

last weeks was more impressive but still great tv :D however I think i was more amazed the bike still worked after being hydro locked numerous times and being sunken so deep!

It was a pretty simple one cylinder engine which helped with this, but yes, I too was surprised at how efficient the little thing was. I don't think my modern car would ever work again! Although remember the pickup truck that top gear were able to salvage again and again and again and again and... :p

Watched last nights episode and really enjoyed it. He comes over to northern ireland for a lot of the road races here. Couple of guys i know who race as well say that he's exactly like how he appears on tv.

Love Guys tv programs, seems a top bloke to me. Also he did How Britain Worked last year, check it out.

And here's an Orange bike he made at their factory.

Really like watching him. He's knowledgeable and doesn't come over as a pretentious *****. It's like he's stepped out of the telly and he's sat on the sofa having a beer.

The program was entertaining enough but I couldn't help feeling they just made the record up so he could 'break' it.

The bike had effectively been converted to a paddle boat and I couldn't see any reason why given smooth water and enough fuel it wouldn't just go on forever.

The human powered flight one looks more interesting, there's a compromise to be made between lift and speed so PHYSICS!!

It was only a slim piece of paddle modified onto his bike, like a ski.

The bike could only be modified so far and it certainly can not float if he was to break the record

they would have tested if it floated and if it did would have changed it.

Like he said at the end. If it's that easy try it yourself.

Love Guy, he's a top bloke and all his TV series and TT: Closer to the Edge are great if you have even a passing interest in engineering or motorsport.

Yeah, thats why I felt it was pointless. It felt like, lets just fill an hour, so to speak.

Like sitting down and watching the majority of TV then. Its a show, its entertaining. More pointless than eastenders ?

Was pretty good attempt! A lot of things on the build I question though, full bicyckle for example.

The next one looks like a recipe for disaster though, I can't wait :D

I think Guy is a real diamond in the rough, quite refreshing to see such a genuine chap on TV in the middle of all the fakeness and falseness that fills every other program on TV.

Next weeks episode does look good though, an absolute recipe for disaster!

Enjoying it, its so much better than most other rubbish that is aired on TV.

Next week I would be very surprised if the episode doesn't include British winter Olympic medalist Amy Williams to train him up, seeing as Laura Trott done some training with him in episode one.

Looking forward to seeing what he has in store in next weeks.

Hopefully channel 4 will bring him back in for a second series at some point.

he is barmy..but you can see he loves doing mad stuff.

and comaprison to Fred Dibnah are spot on...they are what you see..there is nothing put on

the wierd thing is I have just finished reading terry pratchetts latest book Raising steam and all I could see whenever Simnel the engineer was talking was Guys face!
