Annoy the crap out of the council and get them to fit a average speed camera system, done wonders for the boy racers in my mums village.

who you gonna hurt on a motorbike other than yourself?

come and live here if you want things that annoy you like constantly barking dogs, kids shouting and screaming, chavvy neighbours playing loud trance music

id love to live in a village

too many doo gooders and nosey parkers in villages that's the trouble

Aye, damn do-gooders wanting to live in a nice quiet and safe place. Who do they think they are eh?

Notice you didn't mention the two people killed in the link i posted by a motorcyclist.

Probably assumes the pedestrians were at fault, because bikers can do no wrong.

I live on a long, straight and relatively wide road. Houses down one side, infant school and it's associated playing fields on the other.
There is a guy who lives a few doors down with a Suzuki Bandit. When he leaves for work he pulls away flat out from cold, rear wheel spinning from a standstill and by the time he gets to the junction at the end of the road he has to brake so hard he generally locks up.
I'm no NIMBY type but seriously the guy is a douche, and I can't help but feel he deserves a big off.

How are they harming anyone? Such a nanny state we live in and nimbys like op are the reason.

I would usually agree.

Until I read 8.30 am in the weekend. Morning people who make noise in the weekends deserve a special place in hell.

I admit I wouldn't care at all from the midday.

If you find loud noises fun you're 1 step off being a child
Yes I am and I hope to stay a child as long as possible ( in my mind) instead of a boring old ****. I love watching people do traffic light GP's and the sound, even from the braaaaaaappp Honda's. I used to chill in this spot for years overlooking a 2x2 lane road where loads of people would sprint off from the light, l enjoyed watching the cars and bikers take off there.

I'm probably guilty of this. If I wake up on a nice sunny morning then I'm straight out of bed and into my leathers. Quick cig while the bike warms up and then I'm out for a good hour blast before breakfast. I usually follow the same route and I bet there are many bikers who do the same. When your caning along a nsl road and then come to a village you can ease off and think your going slow but still be doing well over the limit.

You fiend, how dare you have fun, and to talk about such actions on this, a motors forum, surrounded by non fun having car owners where we talk about MPG and where best to ensure that extra 0.01% finance on a Golf 1.2 blue motion non sport edition.

Bah, don't you like sleeping. Yes I'm probably the odd one in this aspect but how anyone voluntarily wants to get out of bed before 12 in the weekends is beyond me :D. I can get up early for work or uni or some other ''must'' but if I have the choice of ''sleep longer'' or ''get up'' I will always pick sleep longer :D.

Make yourself one of those spikey things that police throw across the road to catch Car thieves etc!! When you hear one of those chavs on a bike coming throw it across the road!! lol

Why have you started posting again? I thought you'd left :(

I know it's old and generally the rates are improving year on year but here is some info. The trends hold true for today.

Speed limits
47% of cars exceeded a 30mph speed limit in 2011, while 49% went faster than 70mph on a motorway. The proportions of motorcyclists breaking the same speed limits were similar, at 50% and 49% respectively.

The figures for articulated heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) were considerable higher, with 71% exceeding the single carriageway 40mph limit and more than four in five breaking the 50mph limit on dual carriageways.

Also it says that cars kill more pedestrians.

I think this has nothing to do with safety it's just a noise issue. I also think there's a good chance a bike could go past at 30mph and you might think it's speeding because it sounds loud. If you go back to the link above and look at the stats you'll also see why bikes want to be louder than cars. Many bike riders are pure joy riders, however there is also a lot of people that commute and it's their only mode of transport due to being more economically friendly and more environmentally friendly. It's a genuine mode of transport which won't be fobbed off. The testing is more rigorous, more restrictive, and the skill level must be greater in order to stay alive when compared to a car.

You moved to a high congestion 30mph road though (you've even admitted above that cars come off the roundabout and speed). You should have realised what you were going to get. It's almost on par with those people that move next door to a church and then petition to stop them ringing the church bells because it's noisy.

As to the happy face sad face gizmo, each force will only have so many and they will rotate them around many sites. Whilst on the whole they do work in a number of situations (the ones which show your speed), people see it as a challenge to get the highest number they can lol.
