Today i got a letter from the Road Transport office.

When i oppened it i got a renewal form for my Provisional Licence (P Plates) which i though WTF, Why do i have this im off them in January.

So i rang them up and i found out that i didnt get my P Plates with in the new rule changes:(
Which means when i normally would have got off my Ps i now have to have them until Atleast my 20th Birthday Because i have to Also do a computer based Hazerd perseption test to get onto P2s.

Now after getting ****** off with that she then says "Oh you have got 3 demerit points while on your Ps for speeding:eek::(
That means before you can even do your hazard perception test get on to Your P2s you have to under go a Driver Awareness course which is a 2 part 8 hour practical and theory course!

Now i dont need to do that course, But if i dont ill have to wait until a year has passed since i got my fine(My 20th birthday) before i can get my P2s which means ill have to wait until im 20 years and 6 months old before i can get off my Ps!

So because i got a speeding fine i now have to do that extra course so this is what its going to cost me to get My P2s so i can get my full licence this year.

$40 Provisional Renewal.
$50ish Hazard Perception test
$180 Awareness course(Bloody ****s! I was 20kph over and fully aware!)
And thats on top of my $300 Fine:(

So because i missed out on the cut of date for the old rules and got a speeding fine which was only 20kph over the limit i now have to pay $270 Just to get onto my P2s Add that to the $300 fine and thats $570!
Thats not even including getting my Learners and doing the test for that and my P plates and doing all the driving lessons!

Once I can actually get my Real Licance ill be up for another $200 Just for them to change some details on the computer and to give me a peice of plastic with my photo on it.

Moral of the Story, dont even think of speeding in Australia and The Road Transport Office are bloody money grabbers:p:(

Didnt we establish last time that due to the superior nature of being English, we cannot get done for speeding over there? ;)

I think this sort of thing should be introduced in the UK.

Would improve driving standards a lot.

We have some show on over hear about your traffic cops & i shudder Everytime i watch it mate.
*Aus cop show Scenario*
Right then mate That's 3 faults on your car & one driving offence here is the ticket you'll owe about 1600 Dollar :eek::eek: Good day Cobber !!!
Robbing ********

Why is this a bad thing?
I'm sorry but if there is a chance that you will get fined a lot of money for driving a car which is not road worthy on the highway then maybe people wouldn't do it.
The same goes for driving offences.
Why do you think so many people drive without insurance?
Because their fine will probably just cost them what insurance would have done in the first place.
Now, catch a driver without insurance and fine them £2000 and then maybe they wouldn't do it again.

Softly softly simply doesn't work with regards motoring offences - other countries have got it right, we haven't.

What does being on 'P' plates constitute? Lower speed limit etc.?

In my state it is

Zero Tolerance of Alcohol(Must be 0.00 when breath tested)
Top speed allowed is 100kph instead of 110kph
You only have 4 points instead of 12(Or now in my case i now only have 1:eek:)
Always Displaying P plates in the windows unless you are on P2
Nannas Shaking there heads and tutting when you over take them:p

Other states have Curfews and dont let P platers drive cars over a certain power to weight and some dont let them drive turbos other laws but its hard enough trying to keep up with my owns states constant changing P plate regulations and rules.

Driving without insurance is Legal here just not advised

You just NEED to have the cars registered though, If you dont then your are well and truly ******
Your Registration Covers any injurys or death you caused to another person and you dont want to be caught with out it.(moneywise)

and if you break those laws, we shoot you and your family and give all your worldly possesions to charity.

Yeah - I got pulled and given a stern talking to when I was over there for doing 130kph on the freeway out of Perth, but that was it. They said they could fine me etc. etc. but let me off... I don't know how much it would have been though. If it was $300 like Zip it would have been the same cost as the car!

Over here this would cause chaos, youd get hundreds of idiots like me who would just buy fleets of m3's and m5's, with no insurance premium stopping them from doing so. Is that not a problem over there? I Know the first thing id do when passing my test would be to pick up a seriously fast car.

M3s are way over priced down here.

If its Not Australian it costs a right nut.

So you really do want to get it insured
