Almost 70% of fertility clinics either have no access to donor sperm, or find it extremely difficult to obtain, a BBC survey has revealed.

Just wondering how many people in here is willing to give a shot in the aid of medical science? I mean we all had done it one time or the other so it wont be a big deal right?

What will make you do it, i mean be a donor? if the price is right or just do it for doing sake. And for those who are a donor, is there any rigourous selection process etc.

EDIT
My bad, didnt realise that word is a swear word!

I never have done it but I wouldn't be particularly against it, but the laws would have to revert to how they were.

Apparently a lot of people have problems donating. Out of the few that were supposed to attend the London clinic today, two came on the bus and another one missed the tube.

I wouldn't do it. It would mean there was a little mini me running around somewhere, that I didn't even know etc.

same here. For all you could know, you could have a son or daughter in the future and they could meet someone who could turn out to be your son or daughter from your sperm donation.......

What are the chances of that happening? you have more chance of wining the lottery and stealing the crown jewel. :p

Personaly i dont see what's wrong with it - It should be a quick, easy 5mins job. No fuss no muss. I would like to think that im helping mankind in a way and on top of that im making lil bit of money for petrol...

i have looked into egg donation before.. even though it is quite invasive, i wanted to do it for moral reasons, but the law changed and now I will never do it.
Before it was annonymous, now it is not. That is one hell of a difference.

I think a change in the law is actually a good thing. Imagine if you are a child from such scheme and you aint allowed to know who your dad is? iirc the law dont make you responsible for them i.e child support, maintainace etc. Just for records purposes only and to be able to identify the real father isnt?
