Its a boil on your hand 
I get them on my hands from time to time due to the filthy job I do. Get a ciggy lighter & a needle, heat the needle (to sterilise it) burst said spot, give it a squeeze until it bleeds,bit of germolene or TCP on the wound & a plaster. Job done.

He put the pin in wrong.
When Removing puss from something like that or even a pimple its best to find the main pore that leads into it and then slide the pin in.
That way it wont bleed very much until afterwards and the pore will stretch open enough to give birth the the mega puss ball with in
Its even quite painless that way to
anyone seen that youtube link of the guy draining the puss from this thing on his chin, one of the sickest vids i've seen

That vid if it's the one I've seen (don't have a youtube account) is maaad, the amount of puss that comes out is unreal.
Wasn't that bad, I've had a boil on my shoulder and it was about as bad, it would drain on it's own as soon as you took the dressing off, stank bad as well.

I dont think the tip from pyracantha comes up like that so quick. But a tip might have had a bit of muck or something on the end which reacted to you quickly. Pyracantha is like your own living barbed wire..lol

I got bit by a spide once on my arm....my god it itched. i had a lump like half a golf ball under my skin and a massive red mark around it. Took two weeks to finally go.
