Spider population boom?

as was said in just about every single comment on that video....that is not a daddy long legs :p lol
Yes. It is.

Its a daddy long legs spider. Also known as a cellar spider or pholcidae.

What it isnt is a crane fly, which is also commonly (and incorrectly) called a daddy long legs.

do we get the daddy long legs spiders in UK????

just the poster of that video said he was keeping them if they came in his house...plus it was on the UK youtube:confused:

Just came across the 4th intruder of the week. Yet another of the big dark ones and the second in my room. Dad just walked in, saw it on the wall, picked it up and threw it out the window. How can he permit the damn thing to live?

All 4 of these are about the same as that. Reckon they're looking for somewhere to hide now that summer is coming to an end.

You need more of these babies in your house.

Found this this morning. I'm keeping these guys from now on to save me from the other spiders.

Has anyone else noticed a suddenly increase in spiders recently? In the last 3 days we've had at least 1 on those huge ones each day plus several small ones.

Hmmm, now that you mention it I do seem to have a lot. I probably ought to do something about them before they start breeding, but as a rule I leave them alone.

I've found two in my room in the space of 12 hours. They are crawling through my window which I never shut. One got sucked up the hoover and the other squished by a fast twang of a metal ruler.

Dont have a problem with spiders now, used to have a lot of massive ones. One of which used to do a patrol round the top of the living room wall, same time every night. He/she/it lived behind the PIR in the corner. Was quite fond of it.

Then we got 2 cats....

hardly see any spiders these days.

Thanks to Tomb Raider 2 im now an arachnophobic. I cant stand the sight or thought of spiders. Even tiny ones scare me. :( And im not joking about the Tomb Raider 2 thing, it really did make me scared of spiders.

Lots of false widows in my back garden and at least 3 or 4 big hairy house spiders in my room (only cos it's next to the loft) at night. Also at least 10 moths and assorted flying creatures buzzing about, which are usually killed horribly before bedtime.

Don't hurt the spiders, put them outside if you don't like them, they are important.
