Aren't the big ones with spindly legs meant to eat the big ones with chungus legs?

Yes. Hence why I allow them residence!
I call them corner sliders. And I'm h happy with them staying up the removing the big one

our home is around 8 years old i have noticed there is quite a few spiders around high up, not the dark gritty type the light coloured ones with long legs.

do you get rid or leave them be ?

i would drop few drops of cedrarwood each corner (up and down) then use citronella were you can tolerate it. we had mass infestation of moths due to large caterpillar nest outside. struggled for 2 weeks nothing would deter them, we had 20 in a room t one viewing a week of cedarwood & some air diffusers with citonella in & we have just 1 or 2 left

putting around windows will also stop them from entering anymore

I put one of those live in my mouth once & went face to face with the wife...her horror when I slightly opened my mouth & these legs started to emerge trying to clamber out...true story.

Spider season begins - 1st September and there's already one in my bedroom to greet me on awakening. Saw the bottom of my slipper.

Acorns conkers in the corner of a room apparently discourage them. Not tried it myself though. Our cat seems to keep them under control.
