Been reading a lot of good things about this after the beta over the weekend , suppose to be addictive, anyone on here played it ?

Anyone going to be getting this I'm very tempted, it's #1 best seller on amazon already

i had a go at the demo over the weekend, its a fun idea and would be great for family and local play if it has it but i cant see it selling well enough to maintain a good online player base

only played 1 mode with a few loadouts though so there may be a lot more to it but its not for me

Yeah its hard to say if it will take off or not, it did seem a lot of fun though from playing the demo for 20mins last night. Thing is with these types of games, it kinda reminds me of Titanfall, which was really fun at first and still is from gameplay mechanics POV, but lacked content to keep you interested in the long run.

True. and nintendo dont seem to be advertising it or anything? atleast ive not seen anything on tv etc

I played the demo, did really enjoy it but agree with ColEx, it's hard to tell from the soley online MP demo how much depth the final release will have, like collectables, upgrades etc. Very good comparison to Titanfall tbh.

Having said that it is nice to see new Nintendo 1st party characters and a fresh idea for a game. If my daughter was old enough to play I would have used that as an excuse to buy I think, but as it stands it wasn't quite enough to justify a puchase at this moment for me.

Plus I don't know whether anyoen else found this, but the roller seemed very overpowered for covering ground compared to other weapons!

infos!

Splatoon's been at the top of my wish list since it's reveal last E3. I'm feeling the withdrawal now after playing the testfire yesterday :o

Although content wise it's a little thin on day 1, it sounds like updates will come thick and fast, with new maps and weapons every few weeks etc. The main appeal of Splatoon for me is it's original combat mechanics (namely the things you can do with ink and squid form) and the upgrades system, which I think will keep me well invested between content updates.

The Splatoon direct is worth a watch, it was quite informative

At Launch the main features are:
  • Single Player Mission Mode
  • Online Regular (4v4 Turf War)
  • Offline 1v1 Mode
  • 5 Online Multiplayer Maps
  • 4 Base weapon types with variations, and a bunch of sub/special weapons that I haven't counted...
  • Significant number of customization (gear) items and upgrades
  • Challenges (requires amiibo's)

After Release:
  • Ranked Mode & Splat Zones online mode unlocked once enough people are Level 10 (likely 1-2 weeks after release)
  • New Maps released every few weeks
  • New weapons and gear also released periodically
  • Tower Defense Mode (Ranked), sometime within the first 2 months
  • 'Rainmaker' ranked mode (specifics not revealed)
  • August Update - Online updated, team up with 3 friends against another team of friends, or play with 7 friends for private custom 4v4's
  • there's other stuff that hasn't been revealed yet, or i might have forgot something :p

The roller is designed to cover ground fastest but it's not so great in most combat situations.

I watched a couple of Twitch streams yesterday when people were playing the demo. Looks interesting.

But I just can't fathom why all the free DLC that's going to be released during the first few months isn't in it from day 1. The most obvious conclusion is it's a rushed release, which isn't like Nintendo.

I just can't image what the longevity this has on the Wii U's online community, if it had been on the xbox one, I'd get it 100%. But seeing that even GTA5 loses online players, this won't be long before it'll be like a graveyard online. Unless you can play it locally too. Can you?

Introduce people to things gradually and get them constantly coming back for more.

I'd tend to agree with this regarding the drip feed content. I picked the game up for £25 and to be honest, if the content was only a bit more than the demo (ie: maps, whatever single player is in it), I wouldn't feel aggrieved with a 'small' game. Also, there appears to be a lot of tactical play in the game beyond just covering the map. Techniques for jumping, diving in and out of ink and so on will take some getting used to. A bit more than the usual shooter.

I really, really enjoyed it. I watched loads of content before playing the demo and I hadn't got it pre-ordered prior to it. The global testfire ran smooth as anything when I played and I thoroughly enjoyed even getting beat. The hour went in a blink. I read a lot of people moaning about the roller, but they were never the best scoring players - just the easiest way to play. A bit like running round with a shotgun.

My only concern is that it could be so much better with voice comms. Just directing the team a bit more readily than just text d-pad commands would really make the team play better. Judging by the testfire, most of the games I played were full lobbies that stayed full for most games - a real mix of EU, Jap and US too.

Is this extra content going to be free ? If so I don't see a problem with that at all it shows there still going to be developing and improving the game after launch :)

It's a typical Nintendo game, it's actually far more complex and deep than any CoD, Battlefield or Halo that I have played.

The roller is easily the worst weapon, but morons get stomped by it :p

1 week.

...and here's some info on upgrades!:
