Split Air con

but the cost of servicing is ~£100 a year
over 5 years that is £500.

nothing is likely to go wrong in that time anyway (and the 1st year is covered anyway), so save the £500 and use it to pay for a repair later down the line when/if it eventually does go wrong.
Do you guys just hoover the filter? I recall the technicians using a lemon spray, any know spray they use?

Just clean it with whatever, it’s a plastic mesh.

The inside of the unit you’ll want to take more care as there are electronics, motors etc.

You can get special AC cleaning sprays which will likely be alcohol based so they evaporate while killing the bacteria but you’ll still need to physically remove the dust/particle build up with a vac and microfibre.

YouTube is your friend here.

When we had ours serviced last time I saved the bottle that they used to clean the filters so that I could find some and just do it myself when it is needed in future.
