Split Air con

Just had a quote back for 5 rooms;
Samsung 8kW outdoor unit
also just check, i'm pretty sure samsung does not do an 8kw 5-port multi-split
their 8kw outdoor unit is strictly 4-ports only...it's their 10kw that is a 5-way split

(basically are they quoting you correctly?)

Samsung Cebu Units
3 Bedrooms, 2kW units
3.5kW for kitchen
2.5kW for lounge
£6,983.

If we just get Lounge, Kitchen and 1 bedroom £4906.

I also had a quote for Daiken Ducted units for upstairs, but it’s near in 10k, too much for us!
LSP? I'm waiting to get my quote through from them after he visited last week.

You are correct, just agreed the following,
10kW 5 port outdoor unit
1 2kW avant windfree
2 2kW Cebu
1 2.5kW Cebu
1 3.5kW Cebu
£6700

Quite happy with that really! Won’t be installed until Feb/March though.

That's a pretty good deal (edit: pretty stonking deal for 5 units actually)

Though honestly, just get all Avant indoor units lol. Your OCD will thank you as all the indoor units will look alike

I'm hoping its soon, i've got a fix on IOG with 3.8p electric off peak until april so am hoping to make the most of that over winter for heating as my gas fix just ran out and its almost doubled :(

Quote has come back, two external units due to house arrangement.

2x 3.5 kWh, 1x 2.5 kWh downstairs
2x 2.5 kWh units upstairs.
Samsung Windfree for everything.

Coming in at £7.5k, plus £600 spark fees.

Looking for a bit of a sense check.

4 rooms to be covered, each room approx 25-30m2. Layout of the house means it needs to be split in half so two outdoor compressor units.

2 Mitsubushi Electrics MXZ2F42VF 4.2kW outdoor units, 4 Mitsubishu MSZAY25VGK indoor units.

Total install price ~ £8k. Hardware costs seem to be £4k if I was buying myself off the shelf so £4k for fitting and electrics.

My gut says its a reasonable quote, but looking for a second opinion.

Seems expensive but then I don't know the price difference between Mitsubishi and Samsung. I had a quote come in yesterday.
Outdoor - 1x Samsung FJM 10kW, 1x Samsung FJM 4kW
Indoor - 5x Samsung Windfree 2.5kWh, 1x Samsung Windfree 3.5 kWH.

£8710 electrics included.

that quote is about average for the spec
the indoor units are the mid-range for mitsubishi electric, but you're getting two outdoor units, so the outdoor units are where most of the cost is going
it would be cheaper if you could get away with just one larger outdoor unit, but alas, big house, steak juicy, lobster buttery etc...

samsung are not in the same "tier rank" as mitsubishi, and are always cheaper
just note that there are two mitsubishi - mitsubishi electric and mitsubishi heavy industries that supplies A/C...ME is the better of the two in the UK IIRC

The house isn't actually all that big a footprint, but due the layout of the walls and windows the indoor units have to be on opposite sides of the house which makes the pipework routing realistically too long for a single outdoor unit. I've effectively got an indoor unit on all four corners of the house (it's a two up two down).

I need to get my tape measure out, but I think 20m would only cover 3 corners of the house from any single outdoor position considering the need to go to the upper storey too
i think it'll fit

for example: MXZ4F72VF allows a total piping run of 60m (max individual run of 25m)

so, being generous:
front room 1: 25m (top)
front room 2: 20m (ground)
rear room 1: 10m (top)
rear room 2: 5m (ground)

should fit nicely
