***SPOILERS AHOY!!!*** Football 1st-5th Jan

No point even replying to that

Why?! lol

Ever since he's been back he hasn't done a lot.

No he cant - dont be ridiculous

Hernandez is a great player already and should get even better, but Rooney is exceptional - yes he has had a bad 2010 , fair enough but he isnt anywhere near the scrapheap either

I'd strongly disagree that Rooney is exceptional. I still struggle to believe he has fulfilled his massive potential from when he was at Everton.

You can disagree about that if you wish, that's your opinion.

A blip in form is acceptable. This (I've forgotten how many months now he's been poor) is starting to take the ****, considering the new contract and everything he's landed himself.

Apart from anything else Hernandez doesnt have (and should be expected to have) broad enough shoulders to drag the team kicking and screaming thru a must win match like Rooney has done in the past and no doubt will do again (if he didnt at the weekend)

Hernandez and Berbatov have looked like a great partnership whenever I've seen them (provided they get the proper service.)

Rooney is a striker - he should be scoring goals. Fair enough I'm well aware his game is more than that but the rest of his game isn't acceptable either at the minute considering what is expected of him.

You really believe what the red-tops print!!! If you do , that kind of explains the first quote above.

It will never happen (apart from anything its too much of a risk given his recent injuries), and certainly not for the £50m quoted - even with a loan to start with

Jesus, why the hell are you so angry?!:D:rolleyes:

I'm simply putting it out there and saying, "Yes, that's what United need."

Never said anything about it being likely or legitimate.....CONSIDERING I SAID "THE RUMOUR".

How on earth are they doing it! United are so painstakingly average this season, yet they still manage to grind out results! Hopefully Spurs get a win at the lane next weekend!

Says something about how painstakingly rubbish the rest of the league is then given we're 3 points clear with a game in hand over our nearest rival in the table

Hope for a draw tomorrow :)

We did better than expected. Beaten by two excellent goals. Its a match no stoke supporter will lose any sleep over

When we played Man u at home i said to my mate "there is no way man u are winning the title they are so poor"

The passing in that game was woeful. From what i have seen they havent improved much its just that the other teams around them are not good enough at playing badly and winning

I agree that United are far, far from their best in the forward and midfield area, but they're showing improvement from the trough we've experienced in the past few years after selling Ronaldo. Hernandes is looking great and compensating for a Rooney still to find form; Berbatov is finally seeking to justify the extortion Levi exacted for him; Nani has come on in leaps and bounds from the groan-inducing handicap to possession he once was; et cetera, et cetera...

Our defence is still very solid and almost always has been, apart from some glaring weaknesses in the form of Evans and others (Smalling looks promising though and hopefully he can take over the mantle of third-choice CB). Injury-free, I would put our collective back four up against anyone in the Premier League.

United have a solid base to build on in coming years.

As for not dropping points while playing (relatively) poorly, I don't think it's a coincidence that United are getting those 'extra 5-6 points'.

Leaving the lacklustre overall performance tonight aside, the squad showed the high level of concentration in the last quarter or so of the game that is required to grind out the required result, an unromantic trait of champions that people often fail to mention. Just ask Mourinho's 1-0 crew a few years back.

They're focused on the task at hand, and while it mightn't be great to watch at times, you just have to look at the table for the results.

He's not part of the jeans family :) - its actually Daniel Levy

Actually I think Utd dont always play to the whistle - I still think that Brum goal was savable if players hadnt been farting about regarding the foul/handball etc etc - Im pretty certain there was at least one other incident earlier in the season were another away draw happened for this reason

Utd usuually do concerntrate for the 90+ minutes - and try and keep going throughout, but this season......that claim doesnt seem to be quite so bullet proof imo :)

Right back position was a real issue early in the season, but Im very glad Rafael is getting a chance to shine now, Ive always had high hopes for him and he really is looking very good for his age (hope Fabio can make the same improvements & stay away from injuries)

Think about the games away against stoke, fulham, everton and even the one at home against West Bromwich. These were all teams that united should have put away imagine if they had won those games it'd be +8 points more!

From Jan - March 2010 Rooney scored 19 goals (according to commentary the other day)

In anyone's book - thats pretty special

Then he got the ankle injury (I think he actually had issues with both ankles)which disrupted the rest of the year.

Now Ive no medical experience whatsoever, but I think its fair to say that given the continued problems he had for 9 months (incl the world cup and pre-season) for what ever reason the time wasnt available /wasnt given for them to heal properly - yes it was a great pity for the WC, and for the number of games Utd missed him for upto now - but yeah I think its fair to say that if any footballer's ankle isnt feeling right (especially when an accurate touch is required for a striker) then the ankle is going to be pretty crucial

In the last few games he has played Rooney has looked much more like his old self (yes he got himself into a heap of **** with Utd and off the field, but imo thats probably a lot to do with the ankle issues also)

When he walked back onto the field at West Brom, plainly injured but wanting to help the team for the extra 5 minutes - that said a lot in his favour imo, and shouldnt be dismissed

You will burn a player out at Hernandez's age /experience if you play him from the start / every game

Im fully with Fergie how he is being deployed at the moment, and seeing as Utd have given Nani nearly 3 seasons to prove what he can do, it would be pretty stupid to give up on Rooney after 6 months (given the three months over the summer Utd dont really care about), not to mention the previous season (even without March- May) where Rooney was easily the club's top scorer by a long way

Didnt show any anger at all - certainly no need for the rolleyes either

It is a pretty stupid rumour though, dont know how anyone can take it seriously, if you didnt think it was legitimate then there was no point in mentioning it here in the first place.....a rumour / speculation doesnt automatically mean its false so you cant use that as a get out clause like you are trying to (while 99.9% of the press speculaition may be made up - a rumour can still have SOME basis in truth) - this one blatantly doesnt

Kaka is a one and only (on form) - what Utd need is a young Paul Scholes (another one off imo) ......but preferably one who can actually tackle lol

I really hope somebody, anybody, sticks a few past Man Utd some point soon. As much as I'd like that to be Arsenal, that'll never happen.

Even if they win the title, I just don't want them to do it unbeaten. That's our record, dammit.

It would be nice to go unbeaten - but its not the end of the world

I do have a chuckle when all the commentators say " its highly unlikely that Man Utd will end the season unbeaten"

No **** Sherlock, only one team has ever done it (in the EPL) since it started 19 seasons ago - doesnt take a genius to work out that its unlikely!!! :D

Ruud Van Nistelrooy was the man who let this record stand when he missed that famous penalty...

the pivotal point in that season that imo gave arsenal the impetus to go unbeaten had it ever put that away... well we will never know
