Its not an excuse but that pitch at the Hawthorns is shocking, that's why our midfield can't pass and West Brom are lumping it at every opportunity.
We ain't going to be seeing free flowing passing football today.
Complete rubbish, sorry but West Brom are passing HUGELY more accurately than Utd, and seeing as they've barely played on the pitch in the last couple months its hardly like they are used to it.
Infact the pitch looks shoddy in terms of grass quality but it DOESN'T look full of holes or massively bumpy, theres plenty of good long passing happening with the ball not bouncing around like a crazy ball.
The poor passing is from the players, nothing more or less.
Fletcher, Obertan, Carrick, Rooney have been absolutely shocking, looks like Rooney was actually doing the right thing and knocking his header down for Berbatov rather than shooting, got fairly lucky with the goal.
Anderson, Fletcher, Obertan, Rooney, Carrick seem almost completely incapable of passing forwards, they get the ball, think about where to pass for a stupidly long time then pass back to midfield, Obertan being the worst and almost completely unwilling to try and take on anyone. Crossing as been shocking, passing, haven't really had the chance to be poor at shooting, defensively poor, Utd just look awful across the pitch in every sense, though thats pretty much normal for away from home.
As with Arsenal, and most sides, you can get away with an Obertan, or a Carrick, Anderson or Neville, Rooney when you've got enough hard work or quality around them, but a side with too many of those types of players in and the overall quality of the team dips way to low.
Utd's first 11 can carry any of those poor players easily, but only 5 "first team" players trying to carry 5 horribly out of form or just bad players and it doesn't work.
