If I posted what I though of Webb, I'd probably get banned. Seriously, how does he get the big games?
West Ham were just damn poor. We can't even win a game with a one goal lead.
The thing that grates me is West Ham ARE good, just the second they get a goal, or lose a goal they instantly get into panick mode. The team in general can't play long ball football AT ALL. They are massively massively better as a passing team, almost all of Cole's goals come from passing moves, rarely ever get goals from running in behind.
As soon as they got the goal, full backs were staying in their own half and barely moving forwards at all, cb's stay deeper, central midfield pair get deeper, second striker or both wide strikers in a 4-3-3/4-5-1 drop and everything is just lumped up to Cole.
Other teams with a lead continue to play passing football, pass it from one wing to the other across the back four, or the midfield four, West Ham didn't do that once for the first 80minutes. Get the ball, lump it up the field, it comes straight back. Not just Utd/Arsenal who do it so well, Villa, anyone, its so easy to just pass amongst the back four, slow the game, kill time, play posession football. But under no pressure West Ham just get into long ball/panick mode and lump it forward and directly to the opposition. If they'd killed time from their goal onwards Brum wouldn't have had time to get their 2nd goal, unfortunately West Ham seem ina rush to give the ball back to the other team.
Very late in the first half they had a little pressure as they started passing, infact the second they started passing they got 2-3 corners in a row and Brum were stuck in their own half for 5 minutes.
West Ham needed to play like that throughout, and they'd have battered Brum easily.
The team just has utter lack of confidence, must hold on to lead and keep kicking it long mentality, which is working against them so completely.
Hines looked shattered and put in no effort from the 1st minute, Bridge didn't look bad but Faubert barely got forward till late in the second half, when all of a sudden he started running the overlap and getting crosses in, most half decent aswell. Spector was non existant till the last 20 mins of normal time, Noble was just rubbish throughout bar that early great pass to Hines.
If they would just stop panicking, and stick to their passing game for an entire game, for two games in a row, they'd get some confidence, some points and be well on their way up the table. AS a passing team they can finish mid table quite comftably with the teams around them, as a long ball team they'd deserve to go down as they suck at it very very badly, the question is, why are they playing long ball football.
