***SPOILERS!!*** Football 29 Jan -3rd Feb 2011

Well you can't argue with the two goals, sloppy defending that was punished as you'd expect a top flight team to do against a League 1 team but dear me, some of that refereeing was a bit suspect in the second half :/

United not playing well and still winning with a below par side out.

Wednesday were bloody awful at times but still were a million times better then Hereford, 4-1 and on to the next round :)

Well thank god we don't have to sit through a replay. Someone should just shoot Fergie if he even starts writing Gibson on a team sheet ever again.

Obertan was appalling tonight as well.

2-1 doesn't tell the whole story; Southampton genuinely looked like snatching a win, let alone a draw, for sizable portions of the game. It really makes me worry that these sort of performances still gets us wins, makes me think the 'everything is a-okay' brigade will keep trumpeting the on-paper result and we could be next in line for a fall from grace. :(

And ITV coverage... >: Nani was hacked down twice by Butterfield in the last 20 or 25 minutes, the first time inside the box (couldn't believe it wasn't a penalty) and second time blatently off the ball for which he was eventually booked, but we saw replays of neither. And it wasn't like play continued on and they didn't have time, instead they just showed pointless shots of the Southampton manger and the crowd. And Andy Townsend...

Oh Andy Townsend.

Gibson = ****.

Someone please assasinate him!

Game totally changed for the better when he went off.

Chicharito is just pure class. :)

Didn't think Obertan was that bad, just didn't have the intelligence to know when he can or can't beat his man, and what to do after he does. Reminds me of Nani a few years ago, who is now one of our best - which is telling. Give him time.

And there are several row Z season ticket-holders at Old Trafford with black eyes just from Darren's 'shots'.

Cue Andy Townsend slurring about what a 'fine right foot' he has.

Can't believe we didn't get a replay of that, looked to me like the Soton player just lashed out at him, could have been a red. Of course it's against United so we get no replay though and the commentators barely mention it. Commentary was horrendously biased as well.

Oh I agree, I'm not saying sell him just saying he was appalling :p It's a similar situation to Nani in that he's getting the odd game once every few months interspersed by substandard reserve football, no wonder he doesn't look great.

Having said that I'm still not sure he has the quality, Nani at least showed flashes of brilliance.

Ragey ragey rage. If United manage to win the league this year unbeaten, I will actually go postal, I swear.

I can't believe its taken me this long to finally work out who you support.

Don't Hercules park the bus against them though? Not something I could see Arsenal managing with any success.

Also St Pauli won 3-0 and are out of the relegation spots! Hoooyah. \o/

They're not that bad. Everybody has to park the bus against Barca that's just how much attacking they do. However they're a pretty decent team when they can get possession (Hercules).

He lunged at him with the ball miles away, genuinely thought he could've been looking at a red at the time. Of course the two muppets in the commentator box could discuss every individual blade of grass on the pitch but anything beyond 'free kick' for this would ludicrous.

Well I probably do have a tendency to discuss other teams as much as United and not use the term 'we' as much as others, but everything should be crystal clear at the end of the season when I photoshop a 'NEW INVINCIBLES' sig with Gibson and Evans high-fiving over a weeping Johan Cruyff. ;)

Yeah I thought this too. They didn't bother with a replay, dismissed it as "never a penalty" but there's was certainly no contact with the ball.

Commentary was typically biased - sure, everyone loves a cupset but as a commentator you need to remain impartial, not bang on about how great Soton were (they played reasonably well and were unlucky) but give United no credit for a massively improved second half.

I thought this kind of thing might die with Andy Gray's career, but it seems not. If that's what to expect, i'd rather we weren't live on TV in the FAC.
