Noticed there was no thread, Blackburn taking a big step away from relegation at West Ham and City taking one towards Champions League football currently.

Redknapp has done a good job at Spurs but they seem as inconsistent as ever recently, a few changes would sort them out but that might now prove problematic if European football eludes them entirely.

The reaction in the media in the aftermath of the Inter games was a huge overreaction but this hate he's got (from some quarters) because of it is equally ridiculous.

Comparisons to Pennant are ridiculous too. The only thing Pennant gave us was width; he didn't have great pace, his decision making was terrible, he'd beat the fullback and would try and beat him again before losing the ball and his delivery was equally as bad. Bale has blistering pace (which we lack), he's direct (maybe a bit too direct at times) and while his delivery isn't of Beckham standards, there aren't many wide players about today with noticeably better delivery than him.

Like Dan says, he needs a bit of tweaking but he's got all the raw materials to be an excellent player.

I think that's a good assessment. He has all the physical attributes to succeed and obviously has technical quality too, he just needs to demonstrate the latter a bit more. I don't think he has enough about him to become a world class player but he will definitely be up there.

At the moment, I wouldn't rate him above Valencia as I see them as similar players but there's 4 years difference between them and that gives Bale a lot of room for improvement (potentially).

Ah, atpbx, a ray of sunshine on an otherwise cloudy day. :D

I fancy us to do this, our home form is awesome, we basically had the day off in midweek and we have a full squad. Last year we went into this fixture with half a striker in Berbatov, this time we have Rooney and Hernandez along with a midfield coming into some form. Chelsea know they have to win so we should have chances on the counter.

I'll be hoping to see Chelsea line up 4-4-2 with Ivanovic at RB again, I think he's a liability there.

Man u's home form is fantastic so it'll be tough for us. We have a good record in the league vs man u though so anything can happen! :) unless howard webb becomes a man u fan again that is...)

Probably be drogba malouda kalou up front. Not sure whether mikel or ramires will start though.

Anyone who cites the "Howard Webb luvs Man U" argument should get an instaban. It's rubbish.

Studs up lunge from Wilshere doesn't even get booking?

And what exactly is the reason for the Ramsey booing?

Because he refused to accept Shawcross' apology for the tackle. Which, to be fair, is a toolish thing to do since the injury was clearly not intended and Shawcross was obviously pretty upset about it.

Agree about the tackle but you can understand why Ramsey had the hump ;)

The way some Arsenal fans have made Shawcross out to be some sort of monster on the back of that tackle and the way Stoke fans are now booing Ramsey, is stupid though.

It's all a bit pantomime. I sympathise a lot more with Ramsey than Shawcross and I would complete excuse him if he had told Shawcross to **** off immediately following the incident. Hours and days later though is time to be the bigger man and accept the apology, no excuses.
