**SPOILERS** The Football League Cup 2010/2011 Final

Such a waste of a valuable european competition spot.
We're now going to be represented by team that's probably going to be in the championship next season and only in the Europa league due to a last minute ballsup by their Carling Cup opponents instead of more deserving prem team who've put in bags of effort to finish top 6/7.

I'll laugh if we win one of the other three. I'll cry if they now bottle it and throw everything else way.

The only consolation today is that this was the least important of the four competitions and if you're going to have a defensive facepalm moment at Wembley and let the occasion get to you a bit, do it now and not in the FA Cup final or the CL final this year, where if they get that far, they'll have had the experience of playing there already. Players need to forget about it quickly and concentrate on the other matches... problem is as a fan you almost expect them to let this muck up the rest of the season when in reality everything has been going pretty well up to this point.

WENGER HAS JUST BEEN SACKED!

Lol, if only

This made me so happy for a second, then even more pee'd off than a couple hours ago :(

Yeah, valuable spot, to do what, play football I believe they can still do that. Its only valuable in terms of fans being able to see their team play other teams they wouldn't normally, travel to away games, and get more money, sorry but how are Brum less qualified than other teams exactly?

Rather hilariously it could mean Pool/Chelsea/Spurs don't get into Europe depending on which way it goes, theres your value right there.

Arsenal haven't put in ANY more effort than Birmingham to get into the top 6-7, both teams will train 3-4 times a week, play 38 games in the league, and come where they come in the league, if you think ARsenal and Brum spend the same amount, you're having laugh, same goes for ALL the teams in the top 6-7, they all spend 10's of millions more on their wages alone, let alone putting together the team.

Anyway, as for Wenger becoming the youth team, something, director of the academy or something, meh, spotting talent he's fantastic at, DEVELOPING talent. Errm, Wilshire, Sczcesny to a lesser degree, Cole, name another kid who CAME THROUGH THE ACADEMY, yes there will be a couple others. Bentley, Pennant, Bothroyd and a few others, how many progess to the Arsenal first team, not many.

I don't mind people saying Wenger is great at spotting DEVELOPED talent young and buying in players before their value soars, he's a master at it, however bringing in young players who go through the academy, and having a fantastic youth setup is just not what Arsenal are about, we have a HUGE youth setup, with a huge number of players and very very very few come through to be top class.

Arsenal Academy vs Barcelona in the past decade, its a non contest.

Koscielny makes a HUGE mistake in every game he plays, usually more than one, and they've cost us on many occasions already, he's prone to monumental screw ups, that isn't going to change, neither is Wengers quite horrific substitutions, nor his inability to see past Theo/Rosicky/Sagna/Diaby/Denilson/Song's uselessness.

Every reason Arsenal didn't win, are fundamental things Wenger brings to the team and has done for 5 years, every choice was foreseeable, every single one. Seriously, take off your best striker 2/3rd's of the way in, because he got a little knock in the first half and was basically straight back on, then the second best player on the day.

You're playing fairly badly, you DON'T take off two of your best players, against Stoke, sure, in the league, with a hugely important game right after, in a Cup Final, only if you're demented. Why on earth was Theo/Wilshire even playing in the SToke game? He loves Diaby, he was fit, why didn't he start, what about Denilson. He's a joke and has been for a long time.

whoso to say there is not another "wenger" out there?

i think morinho or frank rikard could do a better job then wenger. there is your two candidates

Hilarious. You think they would do it on the same budget Arsene has to work with?

Didn't I read the profits where not so good this year because you didn't have a big player sold.

He does wonders with the budget he has.

Ungratefull fans that don't realise how you will drop down the table when he goes and how much money a new manager will waste trying to emulate his table positions.

I agree.

Didn't notice if it was a slap at that speed. Bad sportsmanship by Bowyer, although if it was going to be anyone, it was going to be him to do that:(

TBH I don't think there was any malice in it, he just pushed his head out of harms way so that he wouldn't get a hip bone to the face.

Supporting Arsenal over the years - we've come 2nd many times. Many of them in recent years. Been disappointed after each final a lot - particularly 2006.

Any other Arsenal fan slightly apathetic about the club atm?

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasnt Arsene got money to spent but he choses not to use it ?

No - the latest accounts show that after not making a big player sell, we've barely made / not made a profit this year. It really is that tight at the club.

People calling for Wenger's head are just stupid and reactionary. But I understand their annoyance - the guy won't change on the little things. Which just so happen to **** us over time and time again.

Going back to transfers it also has to be said the risk with kids has gone sour slightly. For ever Cesc we end up with a Diaby and Denilson as well. We've also made them very rich and given them long contracts.

However the bigger picture needs to be grasped. Against 5 other sides with far bigger budgets the fact we've still gotten to 4th or better each time, and are currently 2nd is what counts the most. I'd rather get to 4th this year than get a Carling Cup.

He pushed his head down as far as it would go, not out of the way, and if his head was going to hit the players running towards him then the rest of his body would too (as, y'know, it sticks out of his neck as opposed to his arm or the side of his body).

He was just basically a bad winner, doesn't reflect on the whole squad so I don't see the need to defend him.

Not quite. That's your half yearly accounts, you're still expected to record a profit for the year as a whole. Your board continue to say that money is there to spend and your accounts show money is available too.

The question is whether Wenger is being (overly) cautious and refusing to spend it until you're debt free or whether he's refusing to spend it as a point of principle regarding value.

He's very much like Fergie in that respect though, if they don't see any value you in a player they won't just spend money for the sake of it.
