SSD causing system to 'hang'?

Hi,

I recently upgraded my CPU and mobo from intel i5 to a ryzen 7 3600x and msi b450 tomahawk max. Since upgrading I have been having a weird issue. Programs I am using (games, browser, discord) will hang and go 'not responding'. The system does not totally freeze - mouse will still move, can move some windows about but they will eventually freeze too. Then, after 30 seconds, back to normal. I noticed when this happens, the SSD will be at 100% 'active time' so I feel like there mightbe an issue there? After I installed my new processor & mobo, I did a reinstall of windows but not a totally clean one (got rid of apps etc but kept files using the recovery option). I cannot for the life of me work out what is causing these freezes. Drivers, you name it, I have installed updated and all of that. Can anyone shed some light on my issue? What can I do to find out more about what causes it? Full specs below.

Processor: ryzen 7 3600x
Mobo: tomahawk b450 max
SSD 1 (OS): ADATA SP550 250gb
SSD 2: samsung 850 evo 250gb
GPU: 1060 6GB
RAM: 16gb 3200 mhz crucial ballistix

Think thats about it.
