Assuming you're putting Windows 7 on it couldn't be easier. Secure drive to case, connect SATA cable. Open your BIOS and check that the SATA controller is in AHCI mode. Install Windows as normal. Once you're In windows run a Windows Experience Index (just type it in the start menu search box to find it) so windows knows you're using an SSD, and it'll tweak what needs tweaking for you.
That setup is good enough for most people. The default windows drivers are pretty good, but If you like you can put the Intel controller drivers on for a bit better performance, Latest ones are available here (don't worry that it's in french, the drivers are the real thing, and WHQL too)
Beyond that any tweaking Is just benchmark nerdery, It'll have negligible positive impact on real life performance. Don't worry about Lifespan either, It'll last for at least a decade as long as you aren't running benchmarks all the time or reimaging the drive every day.
