SSD help

Hi guys

I have just got my Samsung 120gb 840 EVO basic and I am having trouble moving windows onto the SSD. I have used 250GB on my HHD and I am having trouble using the Samsung data migration tool. Because I don't have any important stuff on my PC (Mostly games) would it work if I did a factory reset through windows and then move the OS onto the SSD?

factory reset will lose all your data apart from anything windows

so backup any important data first

Ok, the system is only used for gaming so there are not many important files. I need to get rid of a whole load of old games anway.

If you have all of the software to reinstall I would just format the HDD and unplug it then just do a new fresh install onto the SSD ... once complete ( and after drive and updates etc ) create a new recovery set and then you are good to go.

All nice and clean.

Right, Just transferred the OS onto the SSD with the Samsung data migration. How do I delete the OS off the HHD?

Attach the hard drive to the pc and and ensure you check the boot sequence and then once Windows is running click on the drive and format (you will loose all data so backup your documents) the drive.
