My new SSD will be here in the morning, which im looking forward too. I currently have 2 samsungs, an F2 and F3. Windows is at the moment on my samsung F2. All im wondering is, whats the best way to go about installing my new ssd. I was thinking of doing the following.

Unplugging the F2 and F3. Install SSD, first boot go into windows and set it to ACHI, then install windows 7 ultimate. Once setup, turn off pc and plug in the F2 and F3. Then the old drive which has windows on, just delete the windows folder. Would this all work? what about the games and programmes ive got installed on this drive, will they no longer work? will i need to format that drive?

Please make any answers as simple as possible. If im best to format it then ill do that. If theres a way around it please can anyone give me step by step easy instructions. thanks guys

Programs etc. won't work on the SSD install. After installing on to the SSD, boot in with the other drives connected, back up any important stuff on your old boot drive to your old data drive, then do a full format.

Then just restore files however you like. Searching google will give you some tips for moving Users folder etc.

- Disconnect any HDD
- Connect SSD and set controller to AHCI
- Install Windows (just hit next at the install/format screen)
- Install Chipset drivers and run Windows experience index assessment.
- Disable Hibernation (if you don't use it) and reduce space allocated for system restore.

Never ever Format or Defrag the SSD and put your Pic's, Music and Videos on a normal HDD.

i wasnt on about formatting the ssd, i was talking about formatting the old windows drive. thanks guys. think i was thinking the correct way.
