SSD installed - still getting 5.9 WEI

mines a sata3 drive thats why it performs well, yours is sata2,still good/better than mechanical hdd but you can always sell and buy sata3 if you want, plus you can use ssd caching where you team it up with a big mechanical hdd, then you get hdd storage with ssd speeds

have you tried using ssd caching instead? with ssd and hdd? it will stil rate the ssd as 5.9 if you use caching because the os will be installed on the hdd not the ssd

and yeah ssd's always sell well

with that mb you want either a crucial m4,vertex 3 or corsair gt series ssd, either 60gb or 120gb

Buy a Crucial M4 64GB, they're quick

Those write speed look poor, especially as Atto is a best case scenario benchmark.

Only info I saw about the drive was a pre-release topic on AnandTech.

I would have been tempted to see what speeds you got benchmarking before doing the tweaks.

You got latest motherboard BIOS from Asus? As the revisions mention support for Intel RST, but probably RAID related.

I haven't, TBH I've always been a bit reluctant to do BIOS update - I've never done it before....

Do you recommend I do one?

its easy to do,do you have a usb memory stick? only flash bios through dos with a memory stick,NEVER in windows, post back if you need help, just download mb bios and the flash utility, put them both on usb stick and flash with ezflash in tools in the bios

If Asus don't have a built-in flash tool, then I would use the tool mentioned in this thread to make a bootable USB memory stick.

Copy the extracted BIOS update download from Asus to memory stick and reboot PC. Worth checking option in BIOS is enabled to boot from USB devices.

Once BIOS has been flashed and you restart computer, enter BIOS and select load defaults. Save and exit, then on reboot go back in to BIOS and change settings to what you had before.

Don't think it will make any difference, but worth a try.

just extract them to desktop and drag to your usb stick, both bios and flash utility

and no you dont need to do that above, only if your using raid and caching ect

remember to set all your bios settings again after flashing as it will wipe them, set sata to ahci too

once all done you can install the intel rapid storage drivers
