SSD installed - still getting 5.9 WEI

quick google threw this up for someone with the same problem:

Format a USB stick Fat32
rename bios file to ASUS0606.rom (8 letters)
Place .rom on stick by itself in root - no folder - naked.

not sure why its saying that, but if its your first bios update there might be problem with usb, similar to gigabyte, you have to update bios and ezflash with flashing through the windows software program, once its done and ezflash is updated you can go back to flashing with usb,its because the bios file is larger than 2mb you have to do a one off flash with windows i think its called asus update

i didnt format to fat32 i left mine on ntfs but try that guide first

May I ask when you bought the Kingston drive? As you can return it for full refund if you notify the shop within 7 working days of purchase. Also, it doesn't matter if you bin the original packaging - just so long as you package up the drive so it will safely get back to the retailer. They can't charge you a restocking fee either - though you do usually have to pay return postage (which shouldn't be too much for a small/light SSD).

It's now updated to 0902, re-ran the test & still getting a 5.9

Will sell it on SSD & get the Corsair GT, thanks for all your help :D

dont forget to install intel rapid storage drivers it will help with ahci, but you need a better ssd imo,esp that you have intel sata3 ports

Yeah I did that, will get a better SSD.

This has taught me a lesson to be less impulsive & read up before purchasing!!

Hi everyone,

I recently installed a Kingston sv200s37a 64GB for Windows 7 & most used apps, while the overall speed of the system has increased I am still getting 5.9 for primary hard disk?

To optimise, I have:

Checked AHCI is enabled in BIOS
Run the test with the other drive not connected
Installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver
Disabled System Restore
Disabled drive indexing
Disabled the page file
Disabled Hibernation
Disabled prefetching in the registry
Disabled Windows write caching
Disabled the SuperFetch and Windows Search services
Disabled ClearPageFileAtShutdown and LargeSystemCache
Adjust power settings
Fresh Windows 7 install

Can anyone help?

Looks like you got a sata3 version but it is just slower than Kingstons newer generation of sata3 drives

What you have is performing normally I guess, it's just not as quick as some that you could have purchased.

Still faster than a 'normal' hdd.

Have you done all your windows updates? And installed latest intel rst drivers? That ssd should perform much better than the scores you are getting. If you are going to replace it, get the crucial m4. My m4 scores 7.9 on wei not that wei actually means anything :p
