SSD into Netbook

I've got a Samsung N120 netbook and was wondering if it was worth putting a OCZ Vertex SATA II SSD in it or will it just be as slow?

If anyone has updated a netbook or just thinks it wouldn't be worth it please let me know, any help is appreciated :)
 
It depends what your perceiving to be slow, It's not going to increase your gaming power but it would make general usage of desktop applications a lot quicker. Someone will probably give you an answer more specific to your machine though.
 
It will still be limited by the single core processor (I assume it is single core?), but it will feel faster than it currently does.

2Gb ram would be a nice, cheap speed boost though.
 
Cheers for the reply, my main question now is, would Windows 7 Starter work alright with a SSD (TRIM being the main question as I know it's a shandy version of Windows 7)?
 
i would like an ssd im my laptop but would like a 320gb+ in side but they are way to expancive.

i have thought about the hydride ssd drives but still dont know.

In my opinion 4GB cache isn't enough to be of any use, too little chance of the data you want to be cached being there at any given time plus you still have the mechanical drive downsides with reliability and power/noise/heat. Just get a proper SSD. I don't find myself needing more than a 64GB drive in my laptop anyway. It's Enough storage to get you through a long train or plane journey and when you arrive and have wifi access again just stream whatever fresh content you want. At home my NAS takes care of long term storage.

The age of mass home storage is nearly over, Once I move back to a town and get a Cable or FTTC connection that can sustain Hi-Def content I'll probably decommission my NAS entirely and just stream as and when I need to. Even games - if you can redownload any game in 10 minutes over steam is there any point to having hundreds of GB of local storage?

Firstly apologies I've got a Samsung N130 not a N120 as previously stated, I've ordered a 2Gb card (N130s only have 1 slot) and hopefully that should be here tomorrow so I'll check the speed-up (if any) with that and will then look into getting a 60Gb SSD, I've checked other posts on the forum and the Intel looks to be the best to go so have chosen this:-

Does anybody know if Windows 7 Starter has TRIM support?
