** SSD MEGA SALE AT OCUK UNTIL 4PM SATURDAY 30/07/2011 ** - BUY NOW!!!!

Your PC would feel very responsive compared to an HDD. It was certainly worth the upgrade when I bought one :)

Awesome, though would it fit Win 7 x64 on there? I've just had a check and my windows folder alone clocks in at 24Gb, after almost exactly 2 years of use, and assuming there's the usual 'not actually 30Gb because they assume there's 1000 bytes and not 1024' meaning that its going to be touch and go? Is anyone else running A copy of win 7 pro x64 on a 30Gb drive ok?

The winsxs folder will be full thats all, that along with hibernation and system restore will be usiong a good 10-12GB.

Ive had a 30GB in a HTPC for 2.5 years and by doing that I still have 15GB free so its fine for me :)

I think you'd probably struggle tbh, the windows installation would be under 10gig but as soon as you start installing apps like office etc it will shoot up pretty quick! I've managed to fill most of my 120GB drive and thats not including all of my games and music etc (although lotro at over 10GB alone doesn't help...)

Intel have the highest reliability for SSD's out of everyone, but suit yourself.

+1.

I`ve heard that Intel drives have the highest reliability. ... I'd rather get my data slightly slower, than not at all.

Reliability perhaps but I have no experience or figures - but not on firmware - they've screwed up every product into so far - as with the latest "8MB" fiasco/screw-up and the ones on the previous release.

I've had no problems on my Force2's either with original, the upgrade-process or current firmware.

I can only go by personal experience and the amount of bad press I notice about products. Intel being intel, they may get higher profile reportage of issues perhaps than others but they keep doing it. One day they might learn to keep their fingers out of software/firmware and leave it to others - they don't have a good track-record in s/w or f/w - but I doubt it.

I still don't understand why they would splash $7.7bn they have wasted on on mcafee (to put AV "software" inside your chips allegedly).

Really tempted by the 120gb force 3. I have no idea about SSDs though. Is it worth the £20 more than the slightly older OCZ ones and worth the £15 less than the M4? Will be used as an OS drive + my docs/music and a few games.
