Yes. An SSD will have a much lower random access time and probably a better sustained read rate than a RAID0 array. The only thing which a RAID0 array might be better at would be sustained writes of non compressible data.

In general use it's the low random access time of the SSD that makes the real, noticeable difference.
 
Not to mention the SILENT and low power consumption :)

The churning of a HDD is not something I miss. (OK so many modern HDD's aren't as bad as they used to be...but still)
