Installed a Samsung 840 (Non Pro) a few weeks back; still very pleased with it. Just looking at the SSD Magician software that came with it, and noticed there is a newer version V4.0 so installed it.

Just looking at it and I've come across "Over Provisioning" in the system maintenance tab.

It's not enabled at the moment. What is it and what does it do? Should I have it enabled?

There is a little caveat, that says "Note:- Using a RAW partition may cause damage to your data" What is a RAW Partition?

I have SSD set as primary partition, with OS.

it reserves a bigger space of ssd to allow for maintaining the drive, the bigger the better

So a good idea to have it enabled?

It's telling me I have 231Gig of empty space and advising 23Gig, So 10% I guess.

So will turning it on potentially improve the lifespan of the drive.
