Since the £/Gb is still horrendous compared to spinning disks, when do y'all think it's gonna come down?

Wanna buy a 32Gb boot drive but it's still in the £60+ range which I really can't afford.

Cheers

Horrendous? The speed for the price is very good (as well as the seek time and silence).

The price will come down over the years no doubt, but they are still new tech so the speed will be increasing still, as well as size.

Prices of SSDs <60GB are horrendous, once you get to 60-120GB, you might find some on offer that work out at £1.10-1.20 per GB which isn't too bad at all.

My C300 128GB would cost £1125 for 1TB but TBF, it's not the storage you're looking for when getting an SSD.

Don't expect that SSDs will drop below £50 though, manufacturers are more interested in increasing capacity and speed of the drives.

They are expensive, but so are most of the other components in your PC.
The performance benefits are actually pretty good value provided you are prepared for some additional complication in organizing your storage. Most people don't actually need more than 60GB, extra space just makes it easier to manage. Decent 60GB drives are only around £85-£90 which puts them in reach of most people.

For me going SSD was a better use of my money than a top end video card or i7/Sandybridge upgrade.
